I'm with you - I think, at least in terms of catches, he could outperform Dobson. My only caveat to that is if Vereen gets to play a lot at WR which might limit Boyce as they're similar size/speed guys. But I'm a big fan of Boyce.

I know Reiss isn't the best for analysis and more of a reporter, but he, along with others, continues to hype this kid up. Very interested to watch him at camp. I'll be pissed if he sucks.

Dunno about the Givens comparison. Givens was a good 6 ft tall and weight close to 215 with RB characteristics that made him Mr 1st down. Hard to bring down after contact, he'd get those 3-4 extra yds and helped Brady be known as Mr "Move the Chains" back when Tom threw to the open man instead of focusing on binks. KT at a skinny 195 is not gonna typically drag DBs for 4 YAC.

Agreed, I've been saying he reminds me of a young Chad Johnson since we signed him. Similar body type and cathces everything.

I think Boyce is closer in body type to Givens than Thompkins is. Boyce is 6'0" 205 (some have him at 5'11" 205).

Every day I keep seeing a headline about Kenbrell Thompkins. I can say that I have NEVER heard a wide receiver out of camp make this type of noise, Aaron Dobson for that matter too. He's had some good practices but bear in mind he likely went undrafted for a reason. I really liked the signing initially (I started this thread), but having watched some Bearcat football (watching George Winn), I was left a little disappointed by Thompkins. Didn't put himself in great positions, made silly mistakes etc. He certainly didn't look like an NFL WR and I could see why he wasn't drafted.

Having said that, I'm reserving judgement until gametime because he might be one that gets it NFL-wise.

Bam Childress might be the greatest offseason/preseason wide out of all time. Dude was like Jerry Rice but couldn't do crap once September came around lol.

Most of the time there are some established players in camp that get the majority of first team reps. This year, because of the turnover, the rooks are getting every opportunity to showcase. Now, that's not to say they're not doing well, because if they were bumbling around you know we'd hear about it. But I think part of the reason we're getting extra hype is because we're simply seeing MORE of these new guys than usual.

In a game, if a receiver drops two passes on consecutive third downs, we'll be watching Brady walking off the field in disgust, twice, while the opposing offense runs onto the field. And we'll be calling for someone's head.

Guys like Welker and Amendola and (you betcha!) Lloyd all drop passes in real games. But they catch almost everything in camp. The games are harder. Let's wait and see.

Do they catch everything in camp? Or is it that a Welker drop in camp doesn't get reported because everyone figures, eh, when the games count we know what he can do. A proven guy doesn't get the TC microscope the way these guys are getting (for good reason).

Yep they actually compared it to an elementary school kid being held back so he ends up being the oldest kid in the class which means more developed than they other kids so in comparison that student is smarter.
