2014 Draft Prospect Thread

Trouble with Manziel, is if you are an OC, how much do you trust him to do what you want. A player can be given free reign in college to a degree, but I think it won't fly so well in the NFL.

Now if you can get Manziel and Kliff Kingsbury as a package deal, then you might be onto something.

You know what sucks for you Boston guys? When Aaron Hernandez is arrested for murder, you don't get to play him AND he you have to deal with a huge cap penalty. If A-Rod gets banned from baseball, the Yankees don't have to deal with his play AND they get out of paying his horrible contract, without any consequence.

(A) "Huge" is a relative matter.
(B) Truth be told, Pay-Fraud hasn't been charged with murder.
(C) The Pats could have been better off by suspending him instead of cutting him outright, but they decided that it was better to take the cap hit so that the media has to add "former" or "ex-" when talking about him.

Seems to me that somebody's feeling a little not so fresh.

You know what sucks for everybody else?

Not
being "Boston Guys."

You...Lose. :rocker:

You know what sucks for you Cincinnati Guys???

Being from Cincinnati.

All I'm saying is that the Yankees will be in a better financial situation as a result of the inappropriate actions of one of their players, while the Patriots will be in a worse situation. I'm just saying it's bad luck for you guys

I wasn't rubbing it in. It was actual pity. When I think about it, you guys don't deserve my pity, since you guys have been the most spoiled sports city in the US since the beginning of the new millenium

We may not be the most successful sports city, but we all have a clear conscience rooting for teams that DON'T buy the World Series (I hate the Yankees, but the Red Sox are still loaded) or SPY on opponents.

Besides, most Cincinnati residents are just glad they're not from Cleveland, myself included.

"SPY"?

Really? :bricks:

That was the best comeback I had after you guys took a stab at my hometown

Easy there, Grid is just busting chops. C’mon, it’s not like Cincinnati is known for…really anything, it’s barely on map. There’s not even any notable food/dishes associated with the city, even Cleveland has the “Polish boy” which is reputed to be a great sandwich.

I'll stop you right there... Skyline Chili is a hometown favorite (I'm not a fan), and Graeter's is the best thing on the planet... Oprah Winfrey herself said it's the best ice cream in the world. I love it myself.

And frankly, Ohio isn't really known for anything. The entire state is so generic that most market research studies are conducted here. The state has a fairly average minority population compared to others (We are a bit short on Hispanics, but still very representative of the US population). We're pretty close to the middle in average household income, and we could go either way politically. Also right in the middle in terms of religious beliefs. In short, your typical Ohioan is your typical American, and, honestly, I think that's pretty cool.

It produced the most Presidents (lived in rather than born in) so that's something. I think it also might have the highest proprtion of expat Manxmen too so there's a really big something (although I think the majority are in Cleveland).

Peace, Brother Mack, my good man!!

If you say that what appeared to be an Attack was genuine Pity ~ which is never welcome, mind you, and forever rejected, but is certainly not an Hostile Act ~ then of course I take you at your Word.

Cincinnati's a fine City ~ Like Brother Snake said: I was just Busting Balls/Returning Perceived Fire.

And I'm sure that as intelligent men, we can all agree that SpyGate was no more than a pathetic, disgusting, and despicable attempt by the former Jets employee, Goodell The Sewage, to present a JayWalking Violation as Multiple Homicide: Uniformed personnel were doing precisely what they were allowed to do ~ VideoTaping ~ but just doing it in what for some fool reason had been deemed to be the wrong place. If Goodell was anything but reprehensible Scum, he'd've quietly leveled an appropriately small Fine, and been done with it.

Part of what you say about Spygate is true, but the terms of handing over the evidence were pretty generous on Goodell's part. Besides; you guys have scammed SO many teams out of first round picks over the last decade. You seemingly always have 2 every year. You can live with only one pick one year.

Not to mention, I was 11 at the time of Spygate. I was not an intelligent man at the time, and only understood the basics of it

No offense, but that's just Owl Schytte.

1 ~ ALL of what I said about SpyGate is true.

2 ~ Sewage like Goodell are never generous: He dumped the evidence to protect his vile, lying @$$.

3 ~ That stolen 1st Rounder has obviously significantly hurt this Team, and continues to do so.

Toss in the Chad "Ochostinko" Johnson and Albert Haynesworth trades, as well.

Ok, that's 2 food places in a city, while not shabby I also doubt that it's going to make Cincinnati a stop on Man v. Food or any other food show: you guys need to up your game!

Keep in mind, I'm not at all suggesting that we don't need to up our as well, we're known for our chowder and seafood but not too much more. I've long thought that we should make an effort to beat Chicago at hot dogs (quick, cheap, and easy to make), beat the South at fried chicken (no small feat), and NYC at pizza (relatively easy to make with a good recipe and ingredients) although I actually enjoy Chicago-style deep dish more.

While the South doesn't exactly have a lot of industry/economy going for it they have some damned good food, I wish people in NE would throw down the gauntlet and make it part of our identity to claim a spot on the food hierarchy.

CBS have their first rankings board up for the 2014 draft.

Of note:

Eric Ebron top TE @30. ASJ is #40, Lyerla #67.

Two OG's in top 15: Cyril Richardson @13, Gabe Jackson @15

Johnny Manziel is ranked @57 and there are 6QBs ranked in the first two rounds including AJ McCarron who is given a 2nd round grade.

Edit: Jeff Matthews of Cornell as a 6-7th rounder. I would love that - I think he's a potential 1st rounder. Really like him - especially for the Patriots.

One of my binkies 2 years ago:

Re Saints:

1. Akiem Hicks continues to flash

The second-year lineman tossed Zach Strief aside with one arm during pass-rush drills, then later clotheslined Travaris Cadet in the backfield during team drills. Hicks is splitting time between left end and nose tackle and might see time at both spots this season. So far, Hicks' name has come up more often than just about any other defensive lineman in camp. And it's usually unsolicited.

Irrelevant I know, but nice to see.
