Patriots' Hernandez questioned by police in homicide probe

Way way way waaaay too early, but if above is true likely worst case scenario maybe obstruction charges, which probably would net a suspension from the Ginger Hammer and then a multi-million dollar ESPN contract post-retirement.

Didn't see it mentioned in this thread, but article I read said body was found near his home.

It's almost never smart to cooperate with the police, especially before your attorney is on scene. Any defense attorney can tell you that. Hell, even honest prosecutors can tell you that.

No offense to the police but I definitely wouldn't cooperate without a lawyer. Not a word.

They will end up getting a search warrant..hopefully nothing is there to be found in the first place

it's going to take some time to search that big house..holy cow! going to need a map!

Before and after the fact in case this was pre-meditated.

Just read the ABC link as well that you posted. This is certainly not good.

Patriots' Star Aaron Hernandez to Be Questioned About a Murder, Sources Tell ABC News - ABC News

"Hernandez has been uncooperative with police since the body of a 27-year-old man was found in an industrial park not far from the Patriot player's North Attleboro home, two law enforcement sources said."

The fact that he was Uncooperative is a really bad sign. If he had nothing to hide, he'd have no problem cooperating and the police wouldn't need a warrant to search his house (which they are getting). If I had nothing to hide, the cops could have a sleepover at my place for all I care. Don't wanna jump to conclusions since they have already said they don't consider him a murder suspect, but.....

Obstruction?

He has the right to say and do nothing. Until someone with actual authority makes him do anything he's doing the right thing.

For now. But this has all the trappings of a bad seed hangers on got up to no good and now AH is in a really, really bad spot.

Better call Saul.

That's crazy talk.

Telling a suspect he is not a suspect is one of the oldest tricks of the trade.

Agreed.

it probably is just a dotting the i's and crossing the t's move by AH.

Lets not get this out of perspective. Someone has lost a loved one here.

football matters are secondary.

I agree although I can certainly see the other side of wanting to get an attorney to make sure that his bases are covered. With that said - we really don't know how he is being uncooperative.

As far as I am concerned, if his absence on Wednesday or Thursday is unrelated to this then that would be a start. If the police check phone records and there were no calls to or from Aaron, then that would be a better sign. If the police find nothing inside his home, then that would be the best sign.

That's crazy talk.

Probably good legal advise but doesn't smell good. If police wanted to talk to me about a crime I had nothing to do with, I'd be happy to speak with them. If they wanted to look around, I don't see why I shouldn't let them look around. And why do they want to look in his house? There has to be a suspicion to get a warrant.

No way...if some bonehead friend of yours is suspected of killing someone using the car you let him use, then you keep your mouth shut and get the best lawyer you can find as soon as you can. It would be stupid to do otherwise.

On a more positive note, reports are Gronk surgery "went well" ...

Telling a suspect he is not a suspect is one of the oldest tricks of the trade.
Police never name people as "suspects" anymore prior to arresting them. They're always called a "person of interest." And while I don't see any reports officially naming Hernandez a "person of interest" it's clear he's a person the police are interested in.

Not good.

Oh, stop it. This is Patsfans.com. Football matters are primary.

How he was or is uncooperative is not defined, it could be as simple as wanting an attorney present prior talking to the police..

He has a lot to lose and he has a right to all constitutional protections offered.

This sounds like Ray Lewis 2.0 :bricks:

Well....at least the offseason keeps staying interesting for us.

I don't have a problem with him refusing to talk to police without first hiring a lawyer. But if the lawyer is indeed advising him not to allow his home to be searched, forcing the police to get a warrant, then that's very frightening.
