Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

It's funny, I actually read some JI responses that were like, "good luck Belichick dealing with the hordes of media about to ruin your team."

That's rich coming from fans of a team that INVITES media hordes to wreak havoc as a matter of policy.

Put me in the indifference, do not give a ratz azz camp, it make little difference in the big scheme of things.. he will be given a chance to compete, and if he does well in the role they envision for him he will be kept on if not he will move on.

BB and the coaching crew will not put him into a media limelight position where he will face the press daily, this will be controlled and manipulated..

There will be the anticipated hysteria and stupidity, i.e. Brady may be a better qb, but Tebow is a better person or other such nonsense. The press will query BB about stupid things as well, like what is your reaction to "Tebowing" Bill??

It is a lot to do about nothing, small risk and possible higher reward.. imo he will not make much of a difference in this team.

well, maybe I have...but not nearly as deep as Timmy trying to fit in with the Gronk and the rest of the boyz....

Hey Joker, I'm not going to get involved in your pissing contest here, but I'm curious to know if your sig applies in this situation too. Meaning, the what, 60-70% of the folks here don't like this move, think it's a horrible mistake, etc. But your sig is:

"Sorry, but the very definition of arrogance is some numbnutz internet gadfly who thinks he is smarter than a lead pipe cinch HOF coach with 5 Superbowl rings."

Does it apply in the case of signing Tebow too?

What value does he have on the football field? He stunk on jets special teams, short yardage back when we have a legit 220+ pound monster in Ridley? Use a backup QB as a blocker when we could just put that extra lineman in there? I really don't give a **** about his high character - how about we hire a motivational speaker for the team? As far as scouting for the option goes you still need a QB that can actually throw not a glorified FB. All he brings and has brought already is the media. I don't want it, i don't need it. I hope he gets the hell out of here.

Your bigotry is self-evident.

Rumor is on the heels of this signing Kraft feels Tebow's presence should influence the town of Foxboro to allow him to build his casino.

666.......? Lol man you can't make this stuff up .....that's perfect

"Tim's been a revelation," Belichick said during a recent practice, with a disconcerting smile.

Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

What will the Patriots do with Tim Tebow? Why do people hate Tim Tebow? Why do people love Tim Tebow? What cereal does Tim Tebow like? When Tim Tebow poos is it solid or is it all fudgey?

I'm happy Tim has acquired a NFL contract, I wonder when his news conference will be?

I do feel sorry for Patsfans.com with the onslaught of Tebowites that are sure to soon invade the board.

As always, it isn't the Tebowites that clutter up the message boards, it's those who complain about the Tebowites and the Tebow haters.

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

I wouldn't say I'm a hater. I'm not he biggest fan of this move but hey, we have 90 roster spots to fill and why not give a guy a chance? His character and work ethic is second to none in this league.

There is no QB debate here. We will carry two QBs like we did last season and if we do carry Tim Tebow we will be carrying him as something other than a QB, with a view to using him as a backup in dire circumstance.

I personally think he will struggle to make the 53 but if he can show some ability at TE, HB or wherever, I don't see a problem with it. He's a FREAK athlete who, if he can translate that in to a new trade, would serve us very well.

Saying all that...I don't give two damns about the guy. I didn't want him because whilst there will be no disdain in the dressing room, as a fan I will have to put up with all the media BS right through to the start of the new season and maybe even further!

As always, I support BB and trust his decision making. It hasn't put us far wrong. Rooting for him to succeed, like all our players, to give us a chance to WIN.

Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

I don't understand the tebow hate. If he makes the roster, he would have earned it. He has definitely the right attitude and versatility. And if ochocinco can learn to shut up, then tebow can too.

The reality is that no one except BB and JD know how they're gonna use him. Definitely not us fans. And if you DO know, then why aren't you an NFL head coach?

Everyone just chill and enjoy the show!

Truth is we'd be giggling like pre schoolers if any other team signed Tebow. Of course the fanbots will spin this as a genius move as if TT was a vital missing piece of the Pats' offense.

Indeed I remember thinking to myself "if they only had Tim Tebow" during the playoff loss to the Ravens.

heh...this will be Mr. Mumbles at his best...I mean, you're 100% about DVR'ing THIS....I,for one, absolutely LOVE BB versus the media...but THIS???...this will be, not to be sarcastic, BIBLICAL...I just hope they go way over the top with their gaggling ,gushing, idiotic questions that are tangential to Tebow as a player for the NE Pats...he will be Darth BB at his finest...thanks for ther heads up, Sal...

Q: Bill, Bill, is Tim Tebow sent by God to you as a special gift to New England to show His favor, or maybe to help you recognize and atone for your sins?

A: I feel like, uh, when we looked around out there, uh, things came out as well as we could have expected. Tim came out of a good program, sort of had an up-and-down ride, we'll see what, you know, how he does in camp. We've got 90 guys right now, Tim's one of them.

Q: Bill, is this a statement of the direction the team is going in, away from the old idea that a quarterback throws the football to someone who receives it, like a receiver?

A: Tim is a player that, uh, he was in outstanding program in Florida, was very well-coached in Denver, and uh, Josh, and uh, you know their staff, and he's had some success there, and he's fast, and he's very tough, and he's a good four-down football player, uh, first, second, third, and fourth down. We feel like as far as a pick goes, not using one, that was good value.

Q: Bill, are we looking at life after Tom Brady?

A: 90 guys going into camp. All I'm looking to do is keep 'em alert, keep 'em thinkin', different looks, different situations. Good speed, concentrate on what we're doing, and be ready for the situations. Be ready for anything.

Q: Coach, are you looking to make God a New England fan?

A: Treated us okay so far (laughter.) Just got to do everything better. Throw, catch, get the ball out on time. Take one week at a time, get ready for next week. We've got a lot of work to do. Some plays, you know, whenever you -- when you want a play back, then there are some things you didn't do very well.

Q: Coach, why exactly did you pick up Tebow?

A: Well, you know, as the prince of darkness, when the other guy leaves a player as special as Tim on the ground, jump on the ball. Tim's got a good soul, pure soul, chosen one. Very holy, very tough, looking neither to his left or to his right. God put him on the ground. God's got a good group of players, very well-coached, you know, has had a lot of success in what he does. Just getting ready for the final conflict, turning the pure against him, you know, moon turning blood red, ten-headed dragon coming out of the sea, a couple of other plays we're working on. You're never as good as your best game, never as evil as your most evil one, one conflict at a time. I can't say enough about the Most High, he's on top, and until someone shows they can beat him, you know, it is what it is. That's for you guys to write about. We're just trying to get ready for Buffalo right now.

Crap, I ain't gonna read through this thread just to comment on Tebow.

I think he is here to keep Gronk in line. Gronk needs a buddy that is his age and not a party manimal.

That's scary... Tebow looks like a 15 yr. old Rex Ryan in that pic.... especially with that double chin

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

I think Tim is a prototypical Belichick player. He is a leader and will do whatever it takes to win. I like him as an emergency 3rd QB and wouldn't be surprised if he played RB, FB, TE and special teams.

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

Tebow is going to be a baby sitter for Gronk. Tebow cannot beat out any of the real TEs on the roster, he is not going to play H-back, he isn't better than any of the other guys on the roster and he certainly will not be the 2nd string QB.

Roster spots are too valuable.

Maybe he is the 3rd string QB that plays ST and baby sits the Gronk.

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

I don't like him as a quarterback, I'm uneasy about how he'll be coming out of the backfield in a different role, and I don't like the circus that follows him wherever he goes. People in the other thread were trying to downplay the latter part last night. As soon as I got home yesterday, I turned on SportsCenter and, literally, the first five topics were about Tim Tebow. Just because the team is tight lipped doesn't mean that there aren't going to constant reports about Tebow. The only difference is that they'll be accompanied by some anonymous source and the majority of the time, they probably won't be true.

As for his beliefs, I could really care less. I think some of the things the kid does are admirable and have no clue why so many bash him for it. Christianity, when you really look at it, simply holds values at it's core that are a guide for living a good, moral life. It would be interesting to see the turnaround if so many people on here openly bashed Islam.

Maybe he can be good as the scout QB for practice when they have to go up against a mobile QB like Vick, Cam Newton, Kaepernick, etc. Mallet probably doesn't do that well.

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

I'm deliberately avoiding everything to do with Tim Tebow and the Patriots because I don't have time for it. I want to enjoy my free summer hours rather than spend a minute (beyond typing this post) on something that will be next to insignificant for the Patriots next year. He's a good signing on the basis of being able to be a flex 3rd QB/special teamer/other position. Roster flexibility, that's it. I consider it no more significant than a back of the roster signing.

And crazy people writing about dual goalline backfields with Legarette Blount and Tim Tebow?

That's nuts.

We have Tom Brady, the GOAT, with two touchdown makers out there in Gronk and Ridley. These guys convert TDs like they are first downs. Crazy stuff.
