The Pats have brought back Koutivides. It should be noted that Koutivides was in on the coverage for the long kick-off return the Pats gave up in the play-offs..

Interesting...I always thought White was the better of the ST linebackers.

Probably 1 million dollars aka the price to keep Welker

I understand the timing aspect of the deal, but damn how sad is this.

Perhaps it also should be noted there were 10 other guys in the coverage team too? Why are you blaming it on him?

Seriously? We couldn't find a young developmental LB with more upside to man ST?

I realize the importance of having 'ST aces', but this team wastes roster spots on players that could actually contribute when starters go down.

How sad is what? Your post is a bit creepy.

It's sad to think that the difference between keeping Welker and letting him go is the going rate for a JAG special teamer.

Is this post serious? Its March. There is something next month called a draft where we select young developmental players with upside. After that comes training camp where the coaches will discern which players will be more helpful to the team. Hope this helps!

The guy is incredibly feisty out there and he sells out. How is it a waste of a roster spot?

I'm not sure that many of these young kids would be so reckless as Koutovides.

Again that is really creepy. Let it go. Move on. Its like you broke up with your girlfriend.

I expect quite a few UDFA's in camp to compete for jobs. PS and maybe a surprise or two that stick with the final cuts.

Nothing wrong with signing back end guys that know the system and BB trusts.

We will have 90 players in camp. Koutouvides is likely to be more valuable that 30 of them.

This signing has almost zero cap effect. Koutouvides may or may not be on the final roster. If he isn't, being in camp will help him be more valuable when he is called up.

Belichick almost always has at least 2 LB/ST on the team. As of now, we have 3: Rivera, Tarpinian and Koutouvides. That's fine for camp.

As folks continue to tell us (but few listen), Belichick considers Special Teams to be much more important than do most other coaches. Obviously, fans always want a STer to be a viable backup at another position.

I'm one of the most anti-Welker people on this board, but even I realize that what happened was a colossal failure. It isn't creepy it's noticing that 1 million dollars equals a JAG in the NFL.

Either way can't say this deal means much he'll be unnoticed all year making tackles on special teams or I'll notice him if one of our linebackers gets hurts and I have to watch him play on defense. The horror.

There are like 100 other threads on Welker. It's creepy because you felt the need to bring him up in a thread about Niko Koutivides. Its like the jilted lover who sees their ex face everywhere, including their morning corn flakes. I'm just trying to help break you of your habit.
