Pats were 26th in KO returns last year, how this this not an upgrade and how is it a disappointment?

I have no problem with the signing, just the timing of it. That's where the disappointment is. I like Leon, been a fan since his days at FSU, just think there are way more important signings that take precedent over KR at this point.

what a depressing signing. of all the things we address it's f'n KR? that should be almost the last thing we finish up esp since you can get UDFA to do that crap. go get us our defensive and WR help before mucking around with this **** Bill

This means either Demps or Woodhead are gone. I'd guess Demps just on the fact that Woodhead has played and is valuable on 3rd down.

KR was a major issue last season. 80+ yard drives shouldn't be a norm.

he was 2nd in league in KR last year. Better than the 10 yard mccourty

Why does it matter what order they are addressed? KR was one of the weak points on this team and they got one of the best. Still a lot of good corners out there as well as a few safeties.

no ****. my point was i'd rather them address our dog **** secondary, inconsistent pass rush, WR depth or OL before ****ing around on a KR. I can live with having to drive 75-80 yards to score a touchdown, but our gd defense can't continue this bull**** of horrible 3rd down play and giving up 20+ points.

Superb kick returner, seems to be a great teammate. I want Woodhead here next year, LW should only play on special teams.

As long as he is productive I don't mind him being here.

Great news, I really like this signing. Especially for $1M per year.

WR depth? What WRs are out there? Nothing major..mostly jags..pass rush? Not much out there again...:bricks:

Again, free agents don't and shouldn't wait for a team to go down their checklist of team needs first before signing them.

"Hey Leon, we really like you and think you can help our team but first we need to address WR, CB, DE and S. Can you just wait a week and maybe we'll get back to you? Thanks."

And I highly, HIGHLY doubt he signed a contract at an amount that kills their chances of upgrading the other spots of need. So again, what's the big deal?

exact reason. sitting around with a finger up their ass picking up a KR while other teams are picking up all the quality FA's that would really help this team out.

I could give to ****s if we start at the 20 every series but I'm gonna lose my mind if our defense doesn't nut up soon and actually stop f'n up nearly every game.

Because they can only address one, and they chose KR over the others.

No, seriously - I think you just don't really understand what's going on. It's a buyers' market, and there a lot of talented veterans out there. The Pats are gambling that, as they wait, agents will end up panicking a bit and agreeing to lesser contracts. And they're probably right. It happens every year, and the table's set for it to happen even more dramatically this year than it ever has in the past. And whatever holes the Patriots still have after FA and the draft, they'll likely be able to fill with training camp cuts. That's how this works.

You don't decide which priority is most important and then automatically deal with it first, regardless of the market dynamics at play. There isn't a single top-tier team in the NFL that operates that way. Mega contracts in the first 1-2 days of free agency are where the loser franchises do business. That's how the Dolphins handle free agency. Do you really want the Pats to be more like the Dolphins?

Hopefully this means no more 2 yard draw plays to Woodhead in 3rd and 6.

Are you joking? Woodhead was a beast when he came in on plays and always produced. I think a lot of people here take him for granted, he was a great pass blocker and he made big plays all the time in his role. He will be missed, lets hope that Washington can replace 80% of Woodhead's production

Oh.. you werent being SERIOUS?

And I was?
No, I wasn't trying to make an argument. I made a condescending remark about the effectiveness of Danny Woodhead draw plays. You got really butthurt about it and tried to present a 2 play sample size. MY condescending tone regarding Woodhead was 100% serious.

Its simple.

were being disrespectful of a versatile, big-hearted Player who has done everything that was asked of him.. and more.

I was sticking up for him.
I was being disrespectful towards the usage of a physically limited player, not the player himself. The fact he's :sad:big hearted:sad: doesn't make wasting downs on Woodhead draw plays any more acceptable. Calling Woodhead big hearted as if he's auditioning for a lead role in the movie Rudy is overly sentimental rhetoric that attempts to draw away from the topic.

I'm also fairly certain Woodhead doesn't give a **** what I think and doesn't need you to stick up for him.

How do you know they aren't? The market has been set at corner and now they shouldn't have to overpay to get Talib. It's not like you can only talk to one player at a time. Just chill have a lot of free agents left to sign.

DRC and Sean Smith signed. Most of the good corners are still available. Look, if you can't comprehend what's going on, then that's fine, but just because you can't understand it--despite the fact that they've pretty much openly acknowledged what it is--doesn't make the Patriots wrong. It's your shortcoming, not theirs.

He averaged less than 4 yards per carry last year. It just looked really cool to you because he's such a gritty hard-working lil' fella.

To of 'em, huh? LOL. Do you really think the Patriots -- or any football team -- manages free agency one player/position at a time? Didn't you just read that Amendola was signed by the Pats before Welker left?

Relax. The Patriots have a plan for free agency that looks just like a draft board. They will sign ALL the players that fit into that plan -- at the right price and time.

This strikes me as an improvement and that is what I am told teams try to do at this time of the year.
