4 years $45 million is not meaningful. How much is guaranteed? They can offer anything they want. The guaranteed money is the only thing that matters. Option years are almost never in the player's control so the 4th year is also meaningless.

Unless you're going to pretend that the deal is 100% guaranteed, you've got to know that you're posting nonsense.

Then so do you. Neither of us know the deal. We were both speaking purely hypothetically.

The speculation that its backloaded or with dummy years is just that, speculation.

And if its funny money at the end, Wes and his agent is hopefully smart enough to realize it.

We never win a SB with Wes, to me that means we don't need him if we want SB titles. He's nice to have but we need out side receivers not everyone in the middle of the field.

Oh please! If it weren't for a miracle play in 2007, and a perferct throw and catch by Manning to Maningham Wes would have 2 rings.

I wish you guys would bring up how the Pats offense looked when Wes did not play. It was God-awful.

Sure, but there has been nothing reported claiming that year 3 & 4 are option years, yet. So that talk is equally premature.

What the hell are you talking about? Of course he's worth that. He's worth more than Harvin and Wallace, so he's worth that money and then some.

It depends on the terms of the deal. He's not worth it if the guaranteed money is backloaded. He is worth a sizable signing bonus and declining salaries with the 4th year a team option.

Honestly all I can say in Bill we trust. Who would've thought that the tight ends would become this much of a trend in the NFL. We don't know what he plans for this season. It's quite clear the Wes isn't necessary anymorel. Of course I'd love to keep Wes and his production but don't forget that he choked several times in the play offs.

Winfield was probably cut for a reason and probably won't be expensive...they can afford both Talib and Welker. Offense cost them the last two super bowls not the defense.

The offense lost the Superbowl is a blatant exaggeration. The shortest drive for the Giants in the second Superbowl was 9 plays and they had a ridiculous time of possession because the defense could not get off the field: I guess that's good D. 1st Superbowl D has a 4 point lead to protect with around 2 minutes left and all they have to do is stop a TD and they completely fail , but its all the O's fault.

No, he's worth it unless it's fully guaranteed with no way out in the back.

Since that's not going to happen, he's worth it.

We don't know that. It is likely the guarantees are in the $10-12 million range. Anything over $15 million though and you gotta look to see how the deal is structured to see if he is worth it.

You do have to expect the Broncos structured the deal in a way that the Pats won't match it. That means they may have upped the guarantees and front loaded the contract.
