Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

And who is this stud CB you're going to get?

I'd like them to get Talib and maybe Winfield or one of the other higher end CBs out there. Imagine having two or even three cornerbacks that can cover!!

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

Deltha O'Neal would solve all our problems

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

Just saw 4 years for 45 million for welker. Jesus.

I'm more than willing to let welker walk for that kind of money. He's not worth that.

What the hell are you talking about? Of course he's worth that. He's worth more than Harvin and Wallace, so he's worth that money and then some.

The ridiculous of this board never ceases to amaze me.

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

The years and total dollars are not all that relevant without knowing the guarantees and how it is structured (granted I am sure Welker will let the Pats structure it any way they want as long as the guarantees and money in the first two years are pretty much the same since he can only realistically expect to see two years of the deal as a definite).

Winfield was probably cut for a reason and probably won't be expensive...they can afford both Talib and Welker. Offense cost them the last two super bowls not the defense.

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

I'm ambivalent about the idea of him leaving.....great to have him, but if he's about sticking it to the pats for tagging him for a year, then he needs to move on anyway.......

the best WR ever to never really scare anyone.....the wade boggs of football

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

Everyone needs to calm down for a bit. Welker isn't wearing that Donkey on his helmet just yet. If he signs with the Broncos, THEN we can discuss this as a blunder. But it hasn't happened just yet.

A 36 year old Wes Welker will be worth $11 mill a year? Deus, that is not a responsible contract for any team, especially not the Patriots.

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

It's penny wise.

They knew what they were doing.

Agreed. Put Edleman in the slot. We have the best TE tandem in the game and WWW's money went to them, which it should have. Stats mean *****.

Find a fuking burner WR already. I am tired of seeing this offense shut down by teams clogging the middle.

Address the D issues, and there are several. This team used to win superbowls with a great D.

Nope Welker is a scrub unless Tom Brady is throwing to him.....and Matt Cassel and Joey Harrington..

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

I'm stunned there was no sarcasm used to ease up how stupid this post is.

I'm pretty sure most posters are simply awaiting his eventual banning.

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

The offense without Welker is still well above the championship caliber threshold. The defense with a few pieces for what Welker would cost is crossing the championship caliber threshold. Emotionally it will suck to see Welker go, but logically it's something I think we all can live with, assuming some defensive backs are brought in and/or Talib is retained.

See if you feel that way when Denver is polishing this years Lombardi! This is the worst possible situation for Pats fans. Tired of BB egomaniac BS.

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

Well, he is worth it unless $20-25 million is guaranteed and his salary is front loaded that he sees $30 million in the first two years and $5 million in the final two. No matter how many years the deal is, Welker is realistically only going to see two years of that deal with a possibility of three. Which would mean potentially in that scenario, he will ultimately get $15 million a year.

Unless you're going to pretend that the deal is 100% guaranteed, you've got to know that you're posting nonsense.

No, he's worth it unless it's fully guaranteed with no way out in the back.

Since that's not going to happen, he's worth it.

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

They knew what they were doing.

I don't think they did. They paid him what, $9.4 million guaranteed just last year via the franchise tag. Assuming that he signed a 3 or 4 year deal with the higher end, $20 million in guaranteed money, the Patriots would be look at having Welker right now for 2 to 3 years with only $10.6 million in guaranteed money. They gambled and lost I think. It's part of the business, but there's no denying the simple fact that not signing Welker last year, was a mistake. Hopefully they do something good with the extra cap money.

Deltha O'Neal would solve all our problems

Maybe pair him up with Duane Starks too. Heck, Fernando Bryant could replace Arrington in the nickel.

Don't think so. He was/is our only playmaker at WR.

Re: Schefter: Wes Welker deal to Broncos nearly done

Cause that post is wrong about BB only bringing in hungry vets who want a ring. Nobody cares about your complaints about the moderation when you express yourself in a way that makes it seem like the mods probably made the right call.
