Someone had asked in a thread that I can not now find how much money Brady has been paid as a Patriot.

You can see it at

You can download the Excel workbook at

Thanks Miguel, that was me inquiring.

Using your cash received column, Brady will have earned $178 mill through 2017 (18 years)if he plays out contract as currently written.

For comparison, Peyton Manning earned $173.4 million during his Indy career plus $18 mill from Denver last year with another $40 mill over two years about to kick in.....Sum total of $231 million over 17 years (Thru 2014).

Quite an economic advantage being the number 1 pick under the old rookie wage pool system and a me-first cap killing Pay-me-a-ton succubus as a veteran hired gun.

Not sure if I am right but Manning's rookie deal was worth 48 mil by a quick google search.

231 minus 48 equals 183. Bradys number would have to come down to account for his deal but that would be a much smaller number half mil for each season he played under his rookie deal maybe a play time escalator made it a mil per lets call it a nice round 3 mil even though that is probably high it would bring Bradys to 175. That would seem to be a small difference between Brady and Peytons true earnings when accounting for where they were drafted.

I thought that was a lot of money (which it is) until I remembered A-Rod signed a 10yr-$250M deal with Texas. Then he signed a ridiculous extension with the Yankees. Brady's total compensation seems pretty modest in comparison.

welcome back Miguel. You've been missed around here. Turning to a jets fan for cap info felt like treason

Plus they seem to think the cap is around $200M so they can afford an extension for their failed 1st round QB...

Sorry if I missed your return. But, welcome back Miggy. Are you working on the cap full-time now?

WELCOME BACK.

you were sorely missed by many.

Glad to see you posting - any updates to the cap page are gravy on top.

Up until this extension (which I think is a massive discount), I don't Brady gave up more than 1-2/m year on both non-rookie contracts -- so he was being easy to deal with but not a pushover.
Also Peyton had to live in Indy -- if I had to live in Indy I'd also make them pay me top dollar.
Whereas if I played in Boston, NY, SF, I'd be more willing to give up a bit to ensure I stayed.

And Manning is one of the few top 5 pick qbs that you could say out-performed his rookie contract -- as all of them (prior to rookie caps) got 10-15m/year as rookies.

I agree with the economic advantage -- brady's early years allowed them an extra 2 impact free agents with the extra 14m in cap compared to now.
