If Brady and the Pats beat the Giants in this year's SB will Brady "like" Eli again?



The only thing that Brady, P. Manning and all the great QBs truly hate is losing...doesn't matter to who.

Oh, and in that picture of the p.o.ed Manning as Brady talks to reporters. Manning just lost. I get upset when the Patriots lose and I'm just a fan.

As for the Super Bowl, sheesh. He was rooting for his little brother.

And, no I'm not a Peyton fan.

Does anybody doubt that Larry and Magic wanted to kick each other's @ss on the field but off the field were genuine friends? I see no evidence to think it's any different with Tom and Peyton. As others have pointed out they both encouraged each other during rehab. I can't fault Peyton for rooting for his brother over Tom. If Tom had a brother I'm sure it would be the same.

The only team that Brady has stated that he hates are the 'Jets". And I whole heartedly agree with him on that one!

Manning and Brady are both extremely competitive so there is bound to be some ill feelings when one wins over the other.

So it looks like some people agree and see the same character flaws in Manning that I do that lead me to believe he's very spiteful of Brady.

Some people are offended I'd even question the honesty of their relationship.

Were it someone else, I wouldn't suggest this. I don't think Brady hates Eli. I don't think Magic hates Larry.

What makes me suspicious about Manning is that I have seen a lot of things in him over the years the leads me to believe he's insecure, insecure about his legacy above all, and the reason he has to be insecure about it is because it is totally eclipsed by Brady's success. Insecure people are prone to these sort of secret hatreds and spites.

I mean this is a guy who has thrown his own team mates under the bus publicly, not a Tom Brady clone, gracious, humble, etc, who just plays for another team.

I see in Manning a man who could very well be spiteful and envious and bitter beyond words towards the legacy of Tom Brady which has dwarfed his own.

Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback. He doesn't have the time in the league yet to be considered a top 5 quarterback or anything, but he's really good. When asked about Brady, Rodgers will flat out say he thinks Tom is the greatest quarterback to ever play. That's because Rodgers isn't insecure. He's comfortable in his own skin. He feels he can say that without everyone just deciding to agree with him thus tarnishing his own position among the league's QB's.

All Manning can say about the 3 time Superbowl winner is "he has a great work ethic" and you guys think this is high praise?

I'm pretty sure if the Pats had Manning they still would've won 3 superbowls 01-04, so I'm not of the opinion that Brady is any better or worse than Manning.

There's no way of knowing any of that for sure. All we have to go on is how each performed on his own team.

Brady entered as a nobody and led his team to regular season and playoff wins over a few of the best teams in football, including Manning's. He also added 5 AFCC's, 3 SB wins and a ton of other impressive league records.

Manning came in as the greatest thing since sliced bread, had his team moved to an all expansion division where he racked up incredible regular season numbers, and then led his team to nowhere in the playoffs, even when his team had the best record. The 7 one and outs in 11 playoff appearances says it all.

I'm sure that Manning is frustrated with how it all came out.

By anyone's standards, Tom Brady is one of the most clutch QBs of all time and Peyton Manning is not. Sorry Peyton, but sometimes the truth can be a cruel thing.

The answer is 'No'. Let's not confuse Manning's competitiveness with "hate". Does Brady hate little brother Eli because the Giants beat the Pats in the SBs? Of course not.

The only thing that Tom Brady said he hates is the Jets, and who can blame him?

I have a lot more respect for Eli than I do for Peyton. Eli rises to the occasion and Peyton does not.

Peyton is great at losing the BIGGEST games he plays in - ALL 3 high school championships he played in, EVERY year to FL in college (his school's biggest rival at the time), and it continues in the NFL - even his 1 SB he threw for 7 INT's vs. 3TD's - and that was the ENTIRE post-season.

Think on a personal level that Manning and Brady are good friends. On a professional level Manning has great respect for Brady but I have no doubt he is highly envious of TB's career and success.

I personally think the question that would end all of this debate if they both ended their careers now would be this.

Take away a CG record for PI penalties and Manning goes down as one of the biggest chokers in history and never sheds the image he had coming out of college as a choker. UF had his #.
Granted Brady & Co win #4 against RexG and the Pretenders, so who knows if 07 ever happens, but who cares?!
I respect what Manning has accomplished, but the ball washing is over the top given how much "help" Manning needed to finally break through and get the monkey off his back.

Not at all. I recall reading an article in where they played golf together in the off season or something. It's not hate. Anyone who has played a competitive sport whether in h.s. or college knows the feeling. They are huge competitors, especially for those 60 minutes they meet each year but outside of football, they're friends.

I do agree that Brady seems to have stolen Manning's limelight. Brady is to Manning what Florida was to Manning. He just has a difficult time getting by him. The similarities are uncanny...0-3 against Florida and he threw 4 picks in a game against them once (ring a bell?). He seems to lack that next level play in the big games. Eli is the exact opposite. He lays a turd in the regular season but goes on an absolute tear in the post season. Brady will always be Manning's kryptonite. Hell it might happen again this postseason.

Why would Peyton be spiteful of Brady? Peyton has been the #1 pick, the 4-time MVP, and he's in the driver's seat for another MVP along with Comeback Player and media darling, along with all of his commercials.

Sorry to say, the vast majority of football fans still think Peyton is far superior to Brady, that's an uphill battle Brady may never win, no matter how more more MVPs or rings he gets.

I'm sure Manning does hate Brady. The Patriots denied the Colts so many chances at going to the SuperBowl.

and Brady is the sole QB who gets in the way of Manning being this generations undisputed best.



Looking at Mannings sour **** facial expressions towards Brady, I think its more jealousy and bitterness, rather than hate.



I think that picture perfectly sums up Brady and Manning. Brady is cool, personable, talking to the media.

Manning is walking away angry and bitter probably mumbling "i hate that guy"





Remember... Manning was the #1 overall pick and viewed as the next great QB. This was supposed to be HIS era of football. Then Brady came out of nowhere..... Wins 3 SuperBowls (defeating the Colts in all those playoffs) before Manning even had 1.

I agree, I mean he left our SB without shaking Brees hand. I know he had an excuse. That he wanted Brees to enjoy it, but it was not a good one.
Has any quarterback in NFL history not shaked the opposing winners hand in the SuperBowl ?
and Brees even admired him. I think that was a low blow for a kid like Brees that had followed Manning so long and wanted affirmation. Brees went to PM's training camps while in college.
Maybe Brees pissed him off by calling Brady before the SB for advise, I dont know
But his idol just walked off without a word.
That was a character moment.
Its possible we spoiled PM to much here in NO being Archies son and treated like royalty while growing up. Its possible he is a brat now with great ability, but still a spoiled brat.
I really think from his actions that day, little peyton thinks, sorry still see him as a boy, hes the best their ever was, and Brady beating him cant make him like him at all. Only differense is he probably respects Brady as an equil, but would not give Brees or other QB's the time of day, because he thinks Brees and them, are not even in his league, and hes probably right.
