Ravens Can - Cam Cameron!

I am actually surprised that Dean Pees hasn't been fired. Even before the defense was decimated with injuries, the Baltimore defense was an average defense. Now it is just bad.

That's what the Ravens have allowed in the last 6 games.

Judging by this thread, Ravens fans are psyched, saying it's an early Christmas gift and "In Caldwell we trust."

Ummm, do they even know who Jim Caldwell is?

I think they view it as addition by subtraction.

I don't know if I'm buying it... First this thread tells me that Flacco is horrible, Cameron was horrible, Caldwell will be horrible, and that their offense in general is completely inept. Now you're telling me that their defense is also bad? Jeez, how did we lose to these clowns? Do they have the best special teams unit in history? How the hell are they 9-4?

(Then again, we also lost to the Cardinals... Remember when we thought that was nothing to be ashamed of?)

More like something positive resulting from multiplying two negative numbers.

I guess so lol But you know how they use to say the most popular player in the city with a bad QB is the backup QB. I think they're true view of Caldwell is a bit distorted by how fed up they must have been with Cameron.

Why would you hire Jim Caldwell for anything?!?
Something where theres not a lot of urgency or need to talk much. Every once in a while i would see signs of life from him when he was coaching the colts.

because he replaces Cam-freakin' Cameron?

Though this is like dumping the gf with emotional issues for a different gf with different emotional issues.

Sort of a meaningless re-shuffle.

Ravens fans have wanted him gone for a while, but I'm not so sure that Johnny 5 is going to be an upgrade in any way whatsoever.

I don't think Jim Caldwell has emotional issues.

I don't view this as a positive when it happens the week before the Patriots need this team to play well against the Broncos.

Wasn't he a QB coach or some sort of assistant with the Colts when Manning was there? Might not help the Ravens much in trying to contain Manning this coming weekend but as another poster already said, one can hope.

Horrible officiating handing them 2-3 games that they should've rightfully lost.

To get everybody pumped and jacked?

I have no real insight on which OC would do the best job guiding an offense that is already 13/16 of the way through the season. IMO the really interesting part is that there's clearly been a lot of dissent and dysfunction on the Ravens this season. If Cameron was personally unpopular, the move could easily pay off in the short term. Teams tend to deliver a strong, emotional performance right after an unpopular coach is fired...before falling back to earth.

Hi Debbie Downer!
This is your sister Doris who agrees wholeheartedly

It's a little-known fact that Jim Caldwell is able to walk into opposing teams' defensive meetings and no one ever notices he is there.

I believe it's called "Boredom Induced Invisibility".

Somebody ought to tell them that. " Peyton Manning is not walking through that door."

I see what you're saying. Maybe it will make it harder for DEN to gameplan for them and allow some broken (trick?) plays by BAL to go for big gains or scores? One can hope...

I'm not saying it can't work. We see teams rally around the flag for all sorts of reasons, and we see teams just check out, so anything is possible here, and I'm sure that Ray Rice and Joe Flacco are ecstatic about this firing. I just wish we, as Patriots fans, weren't reduced to hoping that a first time O.C. with the emotions of a Vulcan was going to be the one to get that offense fixed and running smoothly in just a week.

It's surprising but the Harbaughs want to win so it's in line with them making gutsy changes. The Redskins defense is not that great a defense and I did feel the Ravens were pretty inept offensively against them late in the game, despite their 28 points.
