Belcher said his goodbyes in the parking lot in front of coaches before committing suicide.

i fit a guy for golf clubs today at my course....his son was this kids roommate at maine..got a call halfway through and have to fly home....so sad and such a small world

The murder is a terrible, awful tragedy.
The suicide afterward was something of a rational act.

Richard Seymour's father was in a similar situation.

Rational is a word I would never even consider using in this scenario.

Hopefully you're referring to the woman he murdered. Because the player who killed himself deserves no sympathy as he had no soul.

That's rather harsh. Having seen many such tragedies, he has my greatest sympathy, as well as condemnation for his terrible act.

So his final act was to drive to the people who he felt he owed thanks to, so he could make them witness something that will haunt them for the rest of their lives, after subjecting them to the responsiblity of failing at stopping him?
The list of victims of this horrific act of selfishness continues to grow.
I am going to go vomit and stop posting in this thread.

This.

Without an understanding of the underlying circumstances, passing judgement is, at best, premature.

Did he have a soul before the murder? Did you even the know the man to come up with this opinion? Or is it a proclamation that he had no soul?

His girlfriends mother was in the home when Belcher shot his girlfriend.

Then he sped in his luxury sports car (appx 100 mph) to the practice facility.

Words like premeditated, diobolical and criminal are more applicable to this particular example.

If I remember correctly, he was demoted as a starter last week.

"KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP)
Police say Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Javon Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend early Saturday, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager.

Police spokesman Darin Snapp confirmed it was Belcher, a fourth-year player from West Babylon, N.Y., who played college ball at Maine. The woman's name has not yet been released.

Snapp said Belcher shot the woman at a Kansas City residence, then drove to the Chiefs facility. He thanked Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel for all they had done for him, then shot himself. "

My goodness that was hard to read/visualize. All my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and anyone affected by this, wow

Criminal by definition. Premeditated? No evidence about that as yet, but doesn't sound like it. Diabolical? More like senseless, tormented, deranged.

Completely agree! We do not know the full story yet!

This is one of the darkest days in football history.

Non football players commit suicide daily, it should have no effect on it unless they were already looking to add fuel to it.

How can you say that when you don't know whether Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy was involved in his depression? Which he clearly suffered from, but hid well.

The rational part of me knows that some people are just damaged, and are a tragedy waiting to happen. The emotional, fatherly side of me thinks he's a selfish POS for doing that to the girlfriend, her mother, his friends, and that poor kid. Either way, this is awful, and I just can't find humor in it, even of the gallows variety.

I'm normally not a "move the game" kind of guy, but I don't see how it's possible to be prepared for tomorrow.

Your words are completely correct.

I'm sorry but I don't side on the logic that the player had a sudden and uncontrollable urge to kill. He bought a gun and knew what he was doing thus the reason why I say his act was premeditated and diabolical.

I also believe that because he offed himself in front of RAC and Pioli, that was also diabolical and premeditated (assuming the reports are correct that he sought them out, thanked them for the opportunity to play for the team then killed himself).

Just explaining my reasoning. A horrible and senseless tragedy nonetheless.

There is nothing rational about suicide.

Rumor has it he was passed out drunk in his Bentley before doing all of this.
