The suicide afterward was something of a rational act.
Richard Seymour's father was in a similar situation.
Hopefully you're referring to the woman he murdered. Because the player who killed himself deserves no sympathy as he had no soul.
Belcher said his goodbyes in the parking lot in front of coaches before committing suicide.
That's rather harsh. Having seen many such tragedies, he has my greatest sympathy, as well as condemnation for his terrible act.

So his final act was to drive to the people who he felt he owed thanks to, so he could make them witness something that will haunt them for the rest of their lives, after subjecting them to the responsiblity of failing at stopping him?
The list of victims of this horrific act of selfishness continues to grow.

Rational is a word I would never even consider using in this scenario.
"KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP)
Police say Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Javon Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend early Saturday, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager.
Police spokesman Darin Snapp confirmed it was Belcher, a fourth-year player from West Babylon, N.Y., who played college ball at Maine. The woman's name has not yet been released.
Snapp said Belcher shot the woman at a Kansas City residence, then drove to the Chiefs facility. He thanked Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel for all they had done for him, then shot himself. "
Words like premeditated, diobolical and criminal are more applicable to this particular example.

Without an understanding of the underlying circumstances, passing judgement is, at best, premature.
Non football players commit suicide daily, it should have no effect on it unless they were already looking to add fuel to it.
Criminal by definition. Premeditated? No evidence about that as yet, but doesn't sound like it. Diabolical? More like senseless, tormented, deranged.
