Kevin McHale was central to some of the greatest years in Boston Sports history.

What a tragic situation. Her lupus must have been extremely severe. I can't imagine losing one of my children, or what Kevin McHale must be going through now.

Ug. My heart goes out to the McHale family.

My mom has "managed" her lupus for 20+ years. She (and we) have been very lucky that her flare-ups have been caught early and have been treatable.

That is so terribly sad to read. It does indeed break my heart.

Condolences to the McHale family, as no one deserves to go through such tribulations and losses.

It's bad at any age. Some things are worse than death, burying a child and standing over their grave is one of them. Unfortunately for McHale and his family, his nightmare is just beginning......

Honestly, I wasn't a Celtics fan during McHale's years with the Celtics (only a child and my parents weren't into sports). I don't know anything about his family or his daughter.

As a father of two, regardless of the story's specifics, any story about a father losing their daughter at such a young age certainly is relatable and extremely heartbreaking.

Terrible, just terrible. Some things in life don't make sense, but I hope they come to some sort of peace with it.
