No Welker again today

Not that having X-rays indicates it's bad. Normal for a sprained ankle. Mr Dr x-rayed me when I had a sprain. Just checking to verify it's not broken. Not that we'll ever know the diagnosis unless Wes suddenly joins Glass-IR Dowling.

Speaking of silicon based life forms, wonder how Hernandez's ankle is doing?

I don't think they did it the first time he tweaked it though..but took xrays this time around. Not sure though.

I have broken my right ankle..and sprained my left. The sprain hurt worse than the break

Gotta assume he is out for Sun. He participated in walk through but did not practice. Heck, Hernandex practiced last week and still didn;t play. Reiss suspects Hernandez also will not play. If these guys are out, Gronk is our only other reliable receiver although Gronk was not much of a receiver last week. With a strong outside rush, I would not be surprised if he is kept in to block this week as well.

Edelman is great with the ball in his hands but getting it there is another story. He just looks lost at WR and I think he has stopped progressing at the position. Branch is limited physically but always knows what to do and had his best game of the year Sun., so maybe he will step up. Shiancoe can also be effective (even if he has not caught a pass for us yet). In the end, we cannot make up for the loss of Welker (few teams could). Still, it is hard to believe we are so thin at receiver after all the new faces they trotted in. With Mankins and Connolly out, the offense will be tested.

I take that to mean that they're hopeful he'll play, and they had him there when the game plan was being installed.

I expect a big dose of run game vs the Colts.
Followed by a week of threads lamenting that aging Brady is no longer putting up the big #s that the fantasy jerkoffs get wood over.

Does anybody think we might see Salas brought up from the Practice Squad ?:rocker:

I dont remember him getting hurt last weekend. Wonder whats wrong? He wouldn't miss practice unless it was significant.

He left the game with an ankle injury.

At least we may finally be able to find out if Edelman is the next Wes Welker.

We've already had more than enough time to conclude that he is not the next Wes Welker.

Pats are going to have to control the clock in this game, because lack of Welker historically = really bad news for us.

I wouldn't expect it myself, no. Not unless the worry is so severe that they would need to start to plan weeks ahead anyway.

If Welker can't go, we'd likely see Edelman taking his place, with Hernandez contributing too.

If there was worry there that Welker or Hernandez may miss a couple/few weeks, then I think we'd see Salas come up from the PS.

I think that they could realistically get by against the Colts with the assumption that Hernandez should be ready to go, and a combination of Edelman and Branch too.

More focus and success to the running game would likely equal better clock balance, and take some of the heat off of losing Welker for the game, so I certainly agree with that thought obviously.

If there's any doubt to Welker's availability come tomorrow/Saturday then I hope they sit and rest him this week.

Watching NFLN Replay of Pats/Bills Game they show Welker's screen on that play he tweeked his ankel. In a small caption they show Wes interviewed and he says it wasn't drawn up to be a reverse wrap around run and he said man this better work or i'm in trouble lol something to that effect, anyway watching him speak i didn't get that impression that his injury was that bad.

I agree with you, but he has been having some nagging minor issues with the ankle already, and this is the second time that we've seen him limping like that.

It may be a case of "better safe than sorry" by choosing to rest him vs Indy this week.

We'll have to see, but I agree that it shouldn't be anything too significant.

That doesn't quite sit well with me :( Hopefully just precautionary

Nice teeth there Doc. Looks very very natural.

On a football note, if Welker is out I think they may have to go back to more two tight end sets. Didn't see much if any of that last week. Shiancoe maybe finally? Fells?

This is going to be a challenge.

That's how I take it too, encouraging sign.

He rolled his ankle at the end of the game. Limped off after a catch.
