I think someone well connected to the organization used to say: "You are what your record says you are"

You're .500 Bill, your secondary laid waste by a rookie QB. Meanwhile, your seasoned un-clutch vet at QB can't seem to close out opponents if his life depended on it. In the words of the immortal Vince Lombardi: "What the hell is going on out there!"

this team is a 8-8 team...

no way they should have lost that game but the great bb decides he can make pro bowlers out of ham and eggers and cut all our wr at training camp... this is the result.... no way this team loses to this team... poor coaching is to blame....

I don't like losing, but my GOD, how I enjoy the Wailing & Gnashing of Teeth of the Bleaters!!

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

The secondary is clearly the achilles heel of this team.

The O put up 24 pts in a downpour on the best D and toughest stadium to play in the league. They were far from perfect and they need to close better but they weren't the reason for the loss.

Our secondary has become a joke, as well as our scheme. No pressure from Belichick again. Arrington beaten deep, McCourty beaten deep, Chung beaten deep, Wilson beaten deep. All on rainbow throws that hung up there forever.

Did any of us who were watching actually expect the D to come up big on the 'Hawks last drive? We all knew what was coming, it's deja vu. We've seen it happen to many times.

Don't want to make a thread just for this, but: where the heck is Gronk? It seems like we never target him.

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

Does he still get to be held accountable for bringing them to the Super Bowl last year?

and did the finsih the job???? no..... nuff said

Seriously though. The Pats as an 11-5 #3 seed could be interesting. I'm not scared of going to Baltimore or Houston, let's enter the bye at 5-3.

I am with you on this. We can win at either place, let's just get the 3rd seed and turn ourselvs into the road killer NY Giants come playoff time.

Is it possible that the Pats right now are the best 3-3 team in NFL history?

No. People get so confused because they have a lot of talent at certain positions. But a team is only as strong as its weakest link and this team has one of the all time worst pass defenses. The rest of the team, including the coaches, have to play very efficiently and consistently to overcome this weakness. They have a great offense and they have managed to win 3 games, and they have fallen short three times. That is who they are. They are not a great team, and they are not a well coached team. They are a 3-3 team.

I'll bet on 11-5.

11-5 huh? So this team is only going to lose two more games the rest of the year? Maybe just San Fran and Houston? Let's just assume that for a moment. So to go 11-5 the Patriots would then have to definitely sweep the entire division (!!!), beat a tough Rams team (That, I might add, has beaten two of the teams that beat the Patriots), an upstart Colts team... Praytell, friends, what, exactly, are you seeing in this team that I'm not that assures you they're suddenly going to "get it" and go on such a big tear?

Being a fanboy and admiring Belichick and Brady for being a great duo doesn't belie cold facts. This team isn't special and will suffer like most mediocre-decent NFL teams. anywhere between 8-8 and 10-6 is probable, that's just how it looks right now...

Re: you let tickle me pete and russel wilson out play the hof coach and qb just dese

I don't live that far from Hazleton...give Sean a break, that city is tough enough to live in

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

Ultimately they win as a team and lose as a team, and blame can go everywhere today. When they do lose however, you realize what a big part of this team the secondary is. But I agree that 17% red zone efficiency is awful. Tom was looking off before that hit, but I don't think I saw him make a good throw afterwards... hope he's ok.

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

Defense is horrible, Arrington and McCourty are bums back there, you have to be kidding me to blame Tom and the offense.

You have to keep it in context. I blame Brady because he threw 2 picks, should have thrown 3 more, and cost the team 3 points at the half, and is the highest paid QB in the NFL.

Of course everyone expects McCourty to get beat like a rag doll. Heck, its not a football game until McCourty gets beat for a 50 yard bomb. But we aren't paying him $20 million per season to lead this team, like we are Brady.

Re: you let tickle me pete and russel wilson out play the hof coach and qb just dese

Anyone remember the Giants record last season? They barely made the playoffs... But they were a team filled with talented players and caught steam at the right time. I'm feeling great about our chances.

Re: you let tickle me pete and russel wilson out play the hof coach and qb just dese

I detect sarcasm in your post. Around this time last year, Sean predicted the Pats would be lucky to get into the playoffs and if they did, they were definitely one and done. We laughed at him then. And who got the last laugh last season. Oh yeah, the people who laughed at him.

well genius rob... besides you being a homer.... the defense sucked last year and is still sucking this year... no way this team should lose to a team like that.... both brady and belichick need to be held accoutnable... yeah i guess we as pats fans should all be happy go lucky this team which should be 6-0 is 3-3 which is mediocre.... and tied for first place with below avg teams... so wake up and smell the coffee... and stop sucking up and drinking the belichick kool aid... it aint working...

Unbelievable anyone would even have this thought.

Worst second half play calling I have seen out of the Patriots all season long. Worst situational football to close the first half of the game I have seen all season long. This loss is at the feet of New England's idiotic play calling. They had that game and just completely handed it to the Hawks on a silver platter.
Totally disgusted with our offensive coordinator right now.

That game should have been 37-10 in the 4th quarter and instead New England leaves with a big, fat well deserved loss.

Twice New England was marching with ease through Seattle's defense and twice New England decided to get cute when they didn't need to and twice that lead to stupid interceptions.

Un$&#^@^$#believable

Could not agree more. Add to that our usual $hitty secondary, giving up HUGE plays, and you got yourself loss. To add insult, all 3 other AFCE teams won today.

Yes, the defense sucked last year, worse than this year. And you predicted the same doom an gloom you are now.

You are one of the biggest Chicken Littles on this board. Sorry that I don't go overboard after a loss.

This team has more issues than we think, but they lost their three games by a combined total of 4 points and are likely to improve over the season especially as Hernandez gets healthier and these young players get more experience. I am not predicting Super Bowls, but this team should win the division and have a shot at a first round bye.

Re: you let tickle me pete and russel wilson out play the hof coach and qb just dese

can we have a basic questionnaire in order to start threads?

Let's ignore the fact he threw 2 TD's and threw for 395 yards also. The reigning MVP threw for 0 TD's, 223 yards, put up 12 points, and probably should've had a few INT when he played the Seahawks. So I guess Brady is paid just right.

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

Defense made great adjustments after the half... look how many possessions the Hawks had in the 3rd quarter where they came away with zero points. We kept holding, and then our offense had chance after chance to put it away, and we didn't get a single touchdown the entire 2nd half.

I understand how awful they D looked at the end, but we need to know by now that that's going to happen at the end of games. Our offense needs to be able to keep up when that's happening, we're BUILT to score.. and for some reason, we can't.

Also, what the ***** was that second-to-last possession? WHY SO TIMID?! Why are we running the ball on first and second down and basically just setting up a punt when we know our defense is so terrible in such a situation? I just don't get it. Put the nail in the coffin and get TWO first downs, and we win! ************....

You are 100% correct. This QB and this offense cannot finish games.
They simply can't put teams away and they leave the weakest and most inexperienced part of the team, the defense, exposed at the end of games.
This is nothing new, it's been a trend with Brady and this O for a few years now.

I had no idea we were playing the '85 Bears defense today. The respect shown to the '85 Bear.....errr Seahawk run defense was mindboggling. Hey why try to run when you can have your 35 yr old QB, who's looking more and more uncomfortable and ineffective as the game is going along, throwing the ball FIFTY EIGHT TIMES. Hey why even attempt to play smashmouth grind it out running football on a rainy day when you can revert back to being the Colts.

I said earlier this week that this game would tell us alot about the maturity of this team. They've got a long way to go. The secondary's issues are not a surprise. What's so shocking is the lack of maturity shown by the QB and OC. WHAT WAS THAT??????????
