How did Seattle's defense get so good?

It helps if you play in Seattle for at least 8 games during the season

Their secondary is huge (biggest in NFL history) and beats people up at the line of scrimmage, disrupting the timing between QB/WR.

Browner is 6'4"
Sherman 6'3"

They sacrifice speed/agility for length

Kam Chancellor (safety) is also 6'3" 230 or something.

If anybody was committed to jamming receivers it was the 2001 Bill Belichick. What the hell went wrong after that? Well, to his credit he scooped Rodney, and he held onto Ty for as long as he could. But sheesh, after those accomplishments, well Samuel was pretty good but he wouldn't jam a slice of bread would he?

Bill Belichick prefers midget sub 5'10 Cornerbacks so we can watch them get abused by 6'4 wide receivers.

I've been on the BB Kool-Aid a long time but he can't draft, or find, good secondary players to save his life.
I think he has a real hard time drafting WR, RB and DB.

Think about it, our best RBs in his era have all been through FA. Our best WRs have all been through FA. Our best ever safety came through FA.

Too many drafted DBs seem to flash great potential and then regress.

Well....Ras-I seemed like a move in a different direction but god knows what's up with that dude and McCourty is no smaller than Revis though Revis seems far more powerful at that size.

It seems as though we need people that can pop receivers in the five yards. I may be mistaken but isn't that how people neutralized Randy? You can't let him run free. We let guys run free and cover over the top with the safety, but that's like an invitation to give up yards. We don't take QB-WR groupings out of what they like to do. What they don't like to do is never know where the receivers will be because somebody popped them and they're trying to recover on a different route.

The ***** of this is that McCourty seems to possess Revis type physical skills, and he actually proved that long, long ago in the distant past.

Ras is another enigma that just defies explanation. He does break the midget mold but he sits on the bench all friggin day long.

With a safety ALWAYS over the top why can't one of these guys take on a receiver at the LOS and smack him around a little? Take the effer out of the play! Why do we need to let them always run free? It's like chasing free range chickens all day. "Crap, I missed that one. Those little suckers are QUICK man. Oh, crap, I missed another one. Oh well, coach what do you think? Should we keep trying to catch them or can we shoot one at the LOS once in a while?"

couldn't agree more. I think BB is a great head coach but he is terrible in evaluating and drafting certain positions and those being the WR,RB and DB position.

IMO he needs to hire a real defensive guru to be the DC and Patricia needs to go.

ridley shows promise...vereen on the other hand...i cant tell because he never plays. what a shocker that jahvid best never plays, and the guy that took over for him in college...now never plays...
