I particularly love the excuse that the Jets are running a non-gameplanned "vanilla" offense all the time. Sparano is just run-sack-checkdown-punting all preseason because there's no real need to work on any execution in a brand new offense with new players involved, and the "offense with sprinkles" offense is "shhh" top secret.
All of those teams running actual plays and scoring touchdowns in the preseason? They're all fools. The Jets are playing possum on offense all preseason, just waiting to unleash the final product on the rest of the league.
It's no surprise Rex's offensive metaphors (and last year's "meetings") revolve around ice cream.
I love how Jets fans act like the Jets are the only team that runs vanilla offenses and defenses in the preseason. Like the Giants ran anything exotic last night.
Besides, when has a Sparano offense been that complex? I thought tone of he reason everyones was so happy that Schottenheimer was gone was that his offense was too unnecessarily complicated. Sparano was suposed to get back to basics and Ground and Pound.
