Little reality check for both the anti Welker and pro Wallace factions hereabouts in Greg Bedard's Sunday Notes. And given the way this was written Bedard (sadly imo) isn't guessing on the Welker numbers.
What was equally interesting is what they'd have had to pay to land him as a RFA as opposed to what they paid him after they traded for him.
As well as Greg's observation that since the team has adopted the approach of heavily leveraging their best veteran players at contract time they haven't won a SB. Not to mention the simple fact that teams use the trade option to insure impact players don't land within a certain division - and that works both ways (as in the last place Pittsburgh would let Wallace land is with an AFC rival).
