"Shmessy's Back (with his Chad Jackson Breakout Prediction), and He's Bringing MIKE REISS With Him!!!"

From Reiss' chat on boston.com this afternoon:

estreet: Does Chad Jackson play a role on Sunday?

Mike_Reiss: As I look through my crystal ball, and laugh at the comment from my colleague Ron Borges from yesterday's chat (he said Chad Jackson will have a "role" only at dinner), I would say yes. You get on turf, a fast surface, and you want your fast guys to at least have a few touches. Watch specifically on punt returns, where the Colts ranked 31st out of 32 teams during the regular season. Dare I predict Jackson take one back? That might be going too far, but I think he'll have an impact on at least one play.

indpatsfan: Who will be the 'sleeper' who steps up and make the big plays? Will gaffney and caldwell continue their dream run?

Mike_Reiss: How about Chad Jackson? He didn't play a snap last week, so he'd be my sleeper. If Laurence Maroney applies as a sleeper candidate, he'd be my next choice for a breakout performance.

Oh sure, last week you only had NEM on your side, so this week you bring out the big guns.

Personally, I think this week would be a great week to use him considering what the Colts did to our run offense last time around.

I don't think we'll see him in any of the regular passing 3 WR sets we've been using of late, why mess with the Gaffney-Caldwell-Brown group that's been great...BUT:

We did this during the regular season - but bring Jackson in for a 1 or 2 wideout set - they ran the ball a lot with this set - and his speed needs to be respected.

If Sanders plans on coming up in the box when Jackson's on the field, Brady then audibles the play and makes them pay. The fact that he hasn't yet produced is irrelevant, either make the Colts respect Chad Jackson's speed (thus opening up the run game) or make them pay with the long ball.

I like where you're going with this. I'd like to see us run something similar shifting ChadJack (or anyone for this matter) into the backfield, and running the wheel around the pressure from the corner. Watching SB XXXVI last night, St. Louis did this with Yo Murphy on their final drive, and I just love that play. We could run that a couple times to get Indy to either increase their splits or shift their backers out, and then it's WOOT! Draw time up the middle with Maroney or Faulk.

ChadJack's coming and HELL is coming with him!

Doesn't seem to have quite the same ring. But if he has a big breakout game this Sunday, I can get use to it.

Who the hell names their kid Yo?

PatsNutMe -

I don't know if it's just me, but the guy who takes a leak on the helmet each week is having trouble loading. Not a good omen! You gotta fix that ASAP.

MichiganDave -

I don't remember that play, I oughta go back and check out the DVDs (been meaning to look back at each SB run anyway).

As Reiss said, on that turf, speed becomes an asset - I look for Maroney to have a monster game, and if we can use CJ to keep Sanders from hanging around the box, that's all good, too.

He's going just fine. He's on an extra ration of water and beer this week.

If it were the Yo family, then the kid could be a Yo Yo.

And if the kid enjoys classical music....Yo Yo Ma!

(Did I kill it?)

I'm impressed. You've shown great restraint, because I would've turned him around, fed him a couple ears of corn, and some milk of magnesia to wash it down.

LOL, it must be my browswer/connection then. He wasn't making it all the way over to the helmet, and if any helmet deserves to be pissed on, it damn sure is the one with a horseshoe on it.

It's Spanish for "I".

So the real question here is who names their kid the Spanish word for I??? I guess they wanted to make sure he wouldn't be one of those athletes like Moses Malone who refer to thesleves in the third person.

I'd like to see the Pats get an early 2d and short, and go for the deep fly pattern with Chad. Even if incomplete, it could help keep the safeties honest.

* Reiss was misquoted. He meant Chad would be sleeping.

Right, exactly what I was thinking. But, we didn't see him against SD at all, so who knows. Granted, we'll have a completely different game plan this week.

Hey Patsnut!

Any way of turning that 'horseshoe' upside down? Assuming everyone knows why...

It's funny, because I really thought they might do something with him last week, and he plays the least he has in a game he has been active all year. I get the idea that if he even trotted on the field, the alarm bells would go off in the Colts' head since he didn't play at all last week. Either that, or they will think nothing of him coming on the field, and hopefully get torched deep (the think nothing scenario is quite likely, as I don't really think the Colts scout every single player on the opposing team the way the Pats do).
