#27 Traded to Eagles for #46(2nd Rd), #88(3rd Rd) & #153(5th Rd)
#31 Kendall Reyes
#46 Lavonte David
#48 Zach Brown
#62 Trumaine Johnson
#88 Ron Brooks
#93 Markelle Martin
#126 Senio Kelemete
#153 Greg Childs

Not bad, but for some reason I'm guessing that BB will make a pick after #65. ;)

Pats could move Hoyer to Cleveland for picks 100, 139 and 211, the equivalent of a late third. Several mocks have Cleveland taking a QB with pick 37 or 67, so getting Hoyer for what amounts to the 89th pick would be good for both teams.

The ATippett56 Final 2012 NFL Mock Draft! :D

You want offense, then go away!

2012 New England Patriots Potential Draft Scenario:

#27 Shea McClellin, DE/OLB Boise State
#31 Trade with the Eagles for #51, #200 and a 2013 2nd Round Draft Pick
#48, #51 Trade with the Vikings for #35, #66
#35 Kendall Reyes, DT Connecticut
#62 Jamell Fleming, CB Oklahoma (conversion to free safety)
#66 Trade with the Cowboys for #81, #113
#81 Casey Hayward, CB Vanderbilt
#93 Greg Childs, WR Arkansas
#113 Ryan Broyles, WR Oklahoma (PUP/IR Candidate)
#126 Derek Wolfe, DT Cincinnati
#200 Tony Dye, SS UCLA

Now, if the New England Patriots could find a sucker to trade Ron Brace for at least a seventh round draft pick. Hello Oakland Raiders!

P.S. I really hate this safety draft class!

If we're not trading up for Barron, then you've created an almost perfect mock. I love every single pick. Bravo.

Beautifull Mock, Brother Snake!! :rocker:

Defense, Grizzlies, and even the Split Ends are Split Ends!! LOVE it!!

V 2.0

We will trade 27 for a 2nd and a 2013 1st Round Pick.

1st, Alameda Ta'amu DT 6-3 /348
Can push back the line of scrimmage, eats up lots of space.
PGS-00272155085.jpg

2nd Shea McClellin DE OLB 6-3 /260
High motor great pass rusher, good against the run.

2nd LaVonte David OLB 6-1 /234
Great football player, if Woodhead could find a roll on the Pats, David will find his place too.
lavonte.jpg

2nd Dwayne Allen TE 6-4 /255
Good time to find a back up TE who can start right away. Nate can't block anymore, maybe Allen can be coached up to fill that need.

High reward WR, big risk. Let him compete.

Great Pics...and great PICKS!! :D

With that fine note, I think I'm gonna officially retire from the Illustrating Industry!! :D

This is my final mock. It's a combination of what I want to happen and what I think will happen.

Trade: Patriots trade #27, 62 and Ryan Mallett To Kansas City for #11 and #146

#11 Mark Barron, S, Alabama

93537186_display_image.jpg

The best defensive player in the draft not named Claiborne or Cox who will both be gone in the top 10. Intangibles-wise, Barron is cut from the same cloth as the last decade Patriot greats like Bruschi, Vrabel, Harrison et al.

KC have brought Tannehill, Osweiler and Cousind in for pre-draft visits so interest in a QB is there. Mallett is certainly a better prospect than Cousins and Osweiler. This trade could give them a first three rounds something like: Mallett, Hightower, Silatolu, Chapman, Jamell Fleming. If I was a KC fan, i'd be extremely happy and would consider it better than anything they can get by sticking at #11. This trade makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Trade: San Diego trade #49, 110, 2013 3rd for Patriots #31

San Diego, who most likely grabbed a pass rusher in the first round trade up to fill their second biggest need, a safety in Harrison Smith.

#48 Vinny Curry, DE/OLB, Marshall

762090210013Ohio_st_V_Marshall.jpg

As other pass rushers moved up in to the first round, Vinny Curry has held his ground and thus represents pretty good value for the Patriots.

Personally I'd prefer Ronnell Lewis but this pick screams value.

Trade: Patriots trade#49 (Via SD) to Broncos for #57, 2013 3rd

#57 (Via Den) Mychal Kendricks, LB, Cal

images

I see Denver going RB in the first round to add to their offensive weapons in support of Peyton Manning. Trading up to the mid-second gives them their choice of DT's, either Reyes, Thompson or Ta'amu.

Looking at the Pats visits, I think the Patriots are looking through a sub-package lens at this draft and I think one of Lavonte David, Mychal Kendricks or Bobby Wagner will almost certainly be one of our picks. I have David marginally ahead of Kendricks with a bigger drop off to Wagner. But Kendricks is one hell of a player - 8 sacks in 2010, 40+ career games at Cal, 30 tackles for loss in the last two years and one of the combine stars to boot. I also get the impression that BB is a fan of the Cal system so Kendrick is my pick.

#93, Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma

images

This makes sense in a Rob Gronkowski way. missed a significant part of the 2011 season but had he not, he'd have gone at least a round higher. There's no need to rush him in to the lineup with our stacked receiving corp but his skillset makes him a good Welker/Branch replacement in the future. One of the smartest receivers in the draft and a very good returner. I'd be very disappointed if they don't consider this pick seriously. We may have to trade up from the bottom of the third for him.

#110 (Via SD) Ron Brooks, CB, LSU

images

This is the pick I'm most confident that the Patriots will pick and is another sub-package pick. He's the best blitzing CB in the draft and has the skills to man the slot-corner position. Could also be part of the safety rotation. The Patriots have shown a lot of interest in him.

#126 Tyrone Crawford, DE, Boise State

images

This is my hunch pick. Crawford is fairly raw but has shown considerable skill. He's strong against the run and has shown pass rushing ability. Like Allen Bailey who the Patriots showed significant interest in last year, he's a bit of a tweener but he could slim down and play OLB, could stay as he is and play LDE or bulk up to be an interior rusher or even 5-tech. The Ravens had a lot of success with a similar player in Pernell McPhee last year.

#146 (Via KC) Akiem Hicks, DE/DT, Regina

images

I don't think BB is as focused on a 3-4 DE as much as this board thinks he is. He passed on a number of good ones last year, and aside from Brockers, we don't appear to have had any contact with the likes of Still, Reyes or Worthy. However I'm holding on to this pick as one that makes a ton of sense. Hicks has the upside to be a significant contributor in the long term and as a 5th round pick on a team with few roster holes, he makes a lot of sense. would follow a similar career path for the Patriots as Deaderick - gradually being folded in to the rotation.

#Those picks with two 2013 3rd rounders thrown in is a quality haul as far as I'm concerned and I wouldn't be at all surprised if as many as three of those will be Patriots come next sunday.

Note: If we don't trade up for Mark Barron, i think Courtney Upshaw is starting to become the most likely pick @27. Just a hunch.

Excellent. I share your view we'll be looking for prospects for the sub packages (which we spent like 60% of time last season, in part due to our explosive offense.) Trading up is not out of the question, although personally I think AZ is a more likely target if DeCastro is off the board (AZ desperately needs offensive line help and all indications are defense is going off the boards early in this draft so they'll have more choices at the back end of the round, plus they don't have a second.) I also don't buy "Barron is too much like Chung." If you have the ability to get a play maker, you do. See GB, for example. If we stay put chances are that our likely targets will be off the board with Upshaw the most likely to drop.

At any rate, good job.

Thankyou. I previously suggested Arizona as a likely trade target but I'm starting to worry that Barron could go really high. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could go #10 to Buffalo. The KC trade just suggests a really good match up with their obvious interest in a QB. It also means that we don't need to trade both no 1's and gives us greater flexibility in the draft. That was my thinking anyway.

@manxman2601: great stuff as ever. If we head out of the draft with either (Barron/Upshaw) and the other guys you suggested I would be stoked

Great job Manx! Even though I'd never trade Mallet and I don't like Curry, you managed to satisfy every defensive need and add the ultimate Welker replacement for next season. I have to say I expected to see more of your binkies though.

I chose to use whatever available evidence I had in making my picks. I've seen nothing to really link Marvin Jones or Fleming to the Pats (unfortunately). Still got Barron, Kendricks and Hicks in there so three aint bad.

I've shown you mine. When do I get to see yours?

Great job on that draft manxman!

I always feel like I've got a good grip on the draft from a Pats' perspective, but I've only ever hit on two picks (coincidentally from the same draft-Gronk & Spikes). Having said that, I have none of your players in my mock, and I expect you'll probably be more accurate than me.

I'm still working on it. I have 68 hours and 31 minutes left, but hopefully it will be launched publicly before then.
