Would you be in favor of adding Tebow to the Pats

FWIW, supafly, have you ever watched Deal or No Deal?

The "price tag" on a player includes psychological factors.

It's an open secret that Elway doesn't like Tebow, and wants to get rid of him. That, in and of itself, drives down his value to the team.

Ditto with when a team has a glut of players at one position: it's hard to trade any of them when teams know they can just wait and have a good chance of getting one who gets cut without trading.

Not saying Tebow should be a first-rounder, but I don't think his "true" value is a 5, either.

Sure. That's an important aspect that deserves consideration, and one that has a lot of merit.

I would agree that his overall value is probably higher than a 5th rounder, but I don't know how much higher. It will be exciting (in an awfully boring way to be excited) to see what kind of value he brings. It could certainly be a 4th, sure. I doubt it would be anything higher. Then again, maybe someone will overpay for his services like Jacksonville and cough up a 3rd.

I think he could be a decent FB, or something to that effect; hell, he may even be able to improve upon his QB skills enough to lead a team like JAX to a much better record than they've had in a while. If so, it would be a very gutsy story of a guy who didn't have the supposed natural NFL talents to be a starting QB.

Overall though, I can't say that I agree with the notion that he'd be ready to back up a guy like Tom Brady, or even add too much to this particular team here.

I'm still going to stick by the notion that he's not a very effective QB at this time. However, that could change of course.

can't imagine your front office would even joke about trading mallet for tebow

I wouldn't think so, especially with the Hoyer situation not being settled yet.

If the Hoyer situation would settle itself, then I think that Mallett may be more of a possible type of trading bait; but I'd also assume that the front office and BB will make sure that he isn't any kind of fit here first.

I don't think they have made that determination as of yet, but then again, I don't get the chance to see him in practice either.

My guess would be that Mallett will get a nice look first with more preseason live reps before they'll put him on the trading table; and definitely not until the Hoyer situation resolves itself.

if the Pats were serious about using Tebow a lot, they should give Hoyer for him. Denver could even add a 5th or 6th with Tebow since they want to get rid of him so quickly.

Hoyer would be the first person to develop under both Brady and Manning!

Ouch!!!!

Not sure if serious...

I wouldn't trade Tebow for Hoyer if Denver through in Dumervil and a first round pick.

Unless of course we could cut Tebow the second he became a member of the team.

off topic but i would make that trade in a second... horrible example.

Tebow as a clown in another team is funny, you can watch their games and find them entertaining (I really enjoyed some of his comebacks, Jets, Steelers...), but I don't want him in this team not even if he comes as a FB. We have Hoyer and Mallett to back up Brady, why do we need a 4th QB that's going to bring the type of media pressure he's going to bring anywhere he goes?

Only if the trade brings up to NE some interesting players AND we can cut Tebow immediately after, I'd be okay. But if he has time to unpackage his boxes before we trade again/cut him, DO NOT WANT.

What I'd really like is the Jets rumor being true. Tebow in NY will create even more pressure for Sanchez, and if he doesn't respond there will be a lot of people who would chant for Tebow. And... do you really think Tebow would do anything of value with the Jets?

It's perfect.

To quote TeBowie,

"He lost to New England,
Guess God's a Brady Fan..."

Tebow has this amazing work ethic, very good pure athleticism, awesome book knowledge of offenses.

So if he hasn't put it together yet, why would one be optimistic that, with yet MORE hard work, he'll be an outstanding NFL QB?

This Tebow thing is so overblown. But it has suddenly gotten very cold for him in Denver. They've already taken down the series of Tebow action photos that lined the walls going in to the locker room. Ouch.

This isn't MLB, they can't take the hit. Whomever trades for him trades for the contract.

Thanks. Didn't know that. then they either have to cut him or find a team with cap space that'll give them a couple of blocking sleds and a bag of balls for him.

Tebow to the Jets makes so much sense for them given Rexy's history of developing QBs

As far as the hype goes, if Tebow were to play RB/FB, especially in a committee, the hype over him would dry up considerably. It was being the QB, who also led those really entertaining game winning drives, which really created all that hype.

A note on Tebow's athleticism:

There is one sort of "athletic" activity primary to the QB position: throwing the football.

Being able to extend a play is nice. Hitting as many open receivers as possible is primary.

Oh yeah 1 more thing. Football games are 60 minutes, not 15.

I saw on NFLN this ******ed conversation about how great TBow is. One of these dumazzes was saying he made Denver's defense great by expecting to win and then not producing, and they bought into it.

A new kind of quarterback - he puts himself on his team's back and wills them to victory...

That's interesting. You could see the joy all over Elway's face yesterday as he talked about not having an option B. I can't help but think that they are beside themselves to be rid of Tebow.

For Denver's sake Elway had best have another option at QB should Manning's neck continue to be an issue.

Tebow - nice guy, sh*tty quaterback. DO NOT WANT IN ANY CAPACITY!

By the way, and maybe it's just me, but boy do I want to see both Elway and Manning fall flat on their horse faces.

It's funny how things seem to change. Prior to 2004, when Brady wasn't as prolific a passer as he is now, pats fans said Brady was a top QB because the team won games under him, period.

Now that he's blowing up the stats the tune has changed. Suddenly winning games isn't as important as how much fantasy stats are racked up in the process. Obviously I prefer Brady to Tebow but the reasons people are ragging on the guy are counter to the central reason we all backed Brady until he became acknowledged as a premiere passer in this league. Leading your team to a victory.

In summary, check out my *****ing new sig picture.

How the hell do you know he has an amazing work ethic? And if he did, wouldn't he be a better QB? His very good pure athleticism doesn't allow him to throw the ball any better than a high school QB and his book of knowledge of offenses is so awesome he is only able to handle having one option on a pass play before he throws it out of bounds.

Brady won championships. What exactly has Tebow won? A few mid season games.
