not to throw a wrench into things, but i read somewhere that there's a possibility the pats are looking into danny almedola so they release welker.

Lots of smoke but no known fire. The last I've heard on it was that he was in NE because of a death to someone, not for anything related to the Pats.

That was an article by a writer (Curran?) speculating that he thought that would be a player the Patriots might be interested in by comparing him to Welker and the fact that he is in the same status, RFA with 2nd round tender, that Welker was.
There has been absolutely zero credible evidence that the thought of Amendola has crossed the mind of anyone making decisions in Foxboro.

The whole Amendola situation is kind of strange. As Andy and some others have pointed out, there really hasn't been any 'real' info stating that there is anything going on with him.

We've all heard the story that he was in Boston due to a family situation/death in the family.

Then again, one could possibly speculate that IF there is any interest, the front office would want to keep it pretty low key; especially due to the fragile Welker situation.

I don't think we should read too much into it right now, but those who enjoy conspiracy theories may want to keep an eye on the coming events.

With ties to JMcD last yr, and a much younger version of a guy who could potentially flourish as a slot guy in this system, Amendola would be the kind of guy that Belichick may target.

I wouldn't put anything past this front office/BB, and if he feels as though the WW situation may not be able to be solved, I'm sure he will be exploring other options. Part of me is somewhat worried that the Welker situation may be getting further away by the minute; then again I have nothing to base that off of other than the fact that the recent FA signings could not have helped matters in any way + the feeling that the Pats may not be in a budging mood when it comes to WR's on the other side of 30+.

Actually, the possible speculation is that he would likely be taking over Welker's role--so we wouldn't have 3. We'd have 1 starter and a backup.

And to be honest, I couldn't care less if we have 3 white WR's, 3 black WR's, or 3 chinese WR's...as long as the position improves.

Lloyd was free to sign any agent. He chose the only agent that Belichick avoids. He was free then, and is free now. He can chose another agent.

Edelman isn't a viable WR option and never has been. Just because he kinda looks like Welker doesn't mean he can fit that role. Welker is an elite slot guy, Edelman's a JAG. We don't need Danny either. We need Welker and a viable outside-the-numbers WR, a status whose threshold for competency is extremely low around these parts.
