Brandon Lloyd meeting with 49ers: Patriots are gonna blow it

We're one day into free agency and half the people are losing it. Is this Brandon Lloyd we're talking about or Jerry Rice? Lloyd had 2 good seasons and a bunch of bad ones. Even if he signs with us he's still gonna be the 4th option behind Welker, Gronk, & Hernandez.

What the Pats need is a guy who can stretch the field and there's different ways of getting one. We can give up 31 in the draft and get Wallace who is probably the best deep threat in football. The draft has a lot of talent at WR. I would be happy if they got someone like Floyd. Manningham is still out there. Give it time, but if we start the season with Branch or Ocho on the outside then i'll be the first one to complain!

kid the whole point of what I typed is that 07 was the ONLY year they weren't cheap. Try actually reading the article before disagreeing with me with something I am right about. You know they haven't spent any money on anyone since 07, you're wrong, they are cheap and there's more people on this board that would agree with me, not you. Just admit you're wrong about this one, They are a cheap bargain basement team.

No, they are not cheap. They spend wisely and refused to mortgage their future for today.

Generally it's a good plan. I'd like to see them go just a little outside of it every now and then but that's been an issue for years. Of course they've also been to the Superbowl five times in eleven years so who am I to judge?

you have a "feeling"??? is this anywhere near the "feeling" you had when Solder was drafted?...you remember, right...you went nutso beserkaloid and kept screaming "they could have had (INSERT JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY ELSE)!!!"..and then you disappear until the middle of December, when you return to tell all of us who we should target this offseason? Funny....I just HAVE to know....did you even WATCH the Patriots last season? Who starts threads like this and then disappears for 8 months, and comes back after the Pats go to the Super Bowl with this "Pats are blowing it!!!!!" hysteria over a SINGLE 30+ year old player?

so you're saying that when they had the oppurtunity to draft Ingram, Amukamara, Jon Baldwin or even trading up a couple of picks to grab Ryan Kerrigan (who was taken just one pick before the Patriots) that at that moment you said, NO!!! take Nate Solder. How dare you call me out you hypocrite, I'm sure you were sitting watching the draft too and were pissed off at that moment at the Nate Solder pick. You're truly full of it, you were upset just like everyone else that they didn't take a skill player or a pass rusher. The Patriots could have waited to draft a tackle especially after the year Light had. BTW I'm using Lloyd as an example of the Patriots blowing it in free agency. Here's a guy who's a PERFECT fit for their system and stretch the field and the Patriots just say, Nope, no thanks to him, no thanks to Vincent Jackson, no thanks to Reggie Wayne, no thanks to Robert Meachem.

per Schefter: Brandon Lloyd will meet with the 49ers.

I've had a feeling all along the Patriots would some how blow signing Brandon Lloyd and it could very well be on the verge of happening. The 49ers will offer him more money and The Patriots will be stuck once again with Ocho and Branch next to Welker. Reggie Wayne is gone, Colston is gone, Meachem is gone, Vincent Jackson is gone. So what's left?
Has the iceberg come into view?

well should not have expected anything less... san fran will offer more money and years.... he is a tom condon client and they dont do well negotiating with him... not a lot out there... and they are not going to pay big bucks for wallace...

here is a hunch ... with washington bringing in all those recievers , they will be bringing back jabar gaffney...

Notice something about all these teams making a big splash today? They're the teams that perennially miss the playoffs. Hows Washington done in the last 20 years? How bout the Bills? The Bucs or Rams teams we want to be like? They all went out and thrown tons of money at free agents. How many of them do you think will win a Super Bowl in the next 5 years?

Now look at what the Giants did. The Packers. The Pats. The Ravens. The Steelers. All teams that are in the playoff picture year after year and all were quiet today. The Pats aren't cheap, they are always close to the cap limit. They're just smarter then most other teams.

yeah DUDE!!! you tell us DUDE!!! You da DUDE, DUDE!!Pats are cheap,DUDE!!! Everyone knows,DUDE!!! You must tell us all that we are all stupid and YOU are the DUDE, DUDE.Then you can disappear back to whatever backwater crap message board you hide out on ,DUDE...until next December ,DUDE...just like you did last season, TRol...er...I mean DUDE.

Unfortunately the window for winning SBs is closing as Tom Brady is getting up there in age. Hes the only reason we made it to the SB this year and when he retires there goes the SB winning until we develop Mallet or find another franchise QB (which could take years). Therefore if we want to win a championship before Bradys gone and we have to rebuild the team, we might actually have to get a key piece to make an immediate run.

Just like every year it seems, the simple fact that a player doesn't sign with us is apparantly a 100% indication we had zero interest in said player. Vincent Jackson signed with the Bucs. Clearly they were the only team that showed any interest in the entire NFL. The Bills and Chargers were the only teams to call Meachem and not a single team outside of the Colts wanted Reggie Wayne.

As for the draft, I stopped getting instantly pissed at picks after being mad they passed on David Terrell to take Richard Seymour. I'm wrong a LOT MORE than they are. (Plus I like how we could have waited to draft a tackle "especially after the year Light had," since Soilder was our starting RT Week 1 and Vollmer missed most of the season. Boy that one really backfired for us. )

The Patriots would bring him in, but at their price. the patriots always have a plan and while im sure josh mcdaniels would love to have lloyd back, the patriots know their weakness is their secondary.

with Welker, Gronk and Hernandez, who are some of the best weapons in football, perhaps the patriots figure they can make due with what they have now and pull somebody out of the draft, this draft is supposedly deep at WR after all.

Keep in mind that a couple of years from now the patriots are going to have to sign gronk and hernandez, signing Lloyd or Wallace might get in the way of this.

Lloyd is the only player i thought the patriots would sign and they may yet, but if they dont, i fully expect them to sign veterans for low (which has actually been their strong suit in free agency when you talk about players like carter, anderson, waters and crumpler) and focus on building though the draft. it has worked out pretty good thus far, i guess BB doesnt want to try to fix it if it aint broken.

The OP wins the "SUPREME chicken little award" hands down.

calm down troll....I liked the Solder pick...that's why there's an archive here, moron, so you can check on things before you step on your d!ck...BTW, idiot, the Pats went to the Super Bowl this past year so whatever you THOUGHT they should have done sure seems like the thoughts of a total MORON.The fact that you logged on and posted this kneejerk thread on the first day of free agency shows that you are a troll with some kind of hate agenda. We get a lot of your type during the offseason.

i also dont understand why he needs to visit he already played there...

Tough to go along with "blow it" less than 24 hours into free agency
