Pitching staff if anything is underrated coming into this year. Lester has come into camp more in shape than ever, and is ready to take on a bigger role finally. Beckett will be fine with Valentine making sure he doesn't get too lazy. Buchholz is almost forgotten, but when healthy recently he has pitched great. I'm sure we can find a few guys to do decent at the back end of the rotation. People forget Bard was a really good starter in college, and was drafted originally to be one. And Dice-K should be back around the all-star break.
Dice-K when he comes back could be a big surprise. It's no secret that Francona was unsure how to handle Dice-K and his pitching schedule. But Bobby V will know a lot more about how he did it in Japan, and will probably be able to help him get a schedule that he is more used to in terms of what he does in between starts. He will also make him feel more comfortable, which could really help him.
