So what if the Pats do lose?

If they were to lose, it would suck big time. It would hurt and it would be a long wait until the next season. Plus hearing from the trolls all offseason would be unbearable. I don't even want to think about the possibility of losing. I have faith in the Patriots to upset the Chargers.

If we lose we lose. It won't be pleasant but after the initial dissapointment wears off, the big picture reveals itself.

It was a 13 win season. We have 2 first round draft picks, Brady, Maroney, Seymour, Ty Warren and a bunch of other studs coming back next year. We also have significant cap space adding even more flexibility in molding next year's roster. And last but not least, the best front office and coaching staff in football. We will be highly competitive for years to come which is more than I can say for the most of the teams left in the playoffs in both conferences. People think we've got FA problems with Samuel? The Colts have to find money for both Freeney and June this year.

With all that said, victory is within the team's grasp on Sunday and I fully expect a win.

If they lose they lose, it would be a disapointment but I would not be suprized and prob will not lose much sleep over it. We have been threw a hell of a run. Another title would be great but if it does not happen its ok. How many fans can say they have seen their team win three super bowls? Or even two in a row? not many. If the patriots do not win it this year I hope the Chargers do because they are fun to watch, LT is the man, and I do respect Marty as a head coach, look how many wins he has.

was the original post just a longwinded attempt to say nothing? cause if it wasn't you failed horribly.

if they lose they lose. the team looks just fine heading into the future.

if they win we add a SD notch to the belt. on to baltimore/indy.

if the pats are out i cheer for in order: 1) chicago or NO, 2) baltimore, 3) indy, 4) SD, 5) Philly, 6) Seattle.

Oh. I get it now. This is Dianne Chambers, isn't it.

Listen, Sam, I will not be subjected to your clumsy testosterone-fueled overtures. I am a strong-willed and mature, oh, well... Oh, Sam, OH SAM...
That's the spirit, dude,

I really feel the Pats are in the reloading stage of their dynasty, and this years draft booty (2007 draft) will be added to the fine prospects the Pats have drafted the last 5 years.

There'd be little shame in losing to a team like the Chargers. The thing I've found most amusing on Charger Forums has been the repeated chant that "The Chargers are gonna end the Patriot's Dynasty!". One win over the Pat's ain't gonna "end" the Pats current run, just as the Broncos postseason win over the Pat's didn't "end" anything. The team/coaching is too loaded and the upcoming draft potential too large for the run to end.

It depends on how we lose.

If we lose a game like last years Denver game where we and the refs gave an inferior team the game on a platter I will be upset and bitter for 9 months.

If 2 even matched teams come down to the wire and we lose I can accept it. I still be somewhat bitter since Rivers is a rook and Schotty is a playoff scrub.

i think we will win but if we will loose i will be still happy

why ?
simple: we had a nice season - we went again to the play-offs - we have two first rounder in the next draft

i will not complain

but, again, imho we will win there

Go Pats !

We won't lose...period.

We cannot lose

Must not lose.

Losing is for............losers.

Cannot take another one win and done in the playoffs mediocre year.

Pundits cannot be right, they must be proven wrong.

Losing is not an option.

We win I tell ya.

Pats win.

34-17

If they lose, I agree, I will lose no sleep over it. San Diego has been hyped all year and is the favorite big time...so why should anyone feel bad?? Given how negative MANy have been all year, finishing 13-5---total is NOT bad at all. I will say the team did it's best and for whatever reason...fill in the blank with what happened on Sunday--and they will move on.
Given what they lost, it's amazing they got to this point when one looks at the losses, especially Branch who they counted on. I will applaud the team and move on to the offseason.
As far as who to cheer for?? I will hope the Saints are alive..for that will be my team...the others?? Forget about.

I'm pretty confident the Pats will win. Thinking about the Pats losing just contributes to bad Karma. I'll deal with it if and when it happens.

yeah, for some reason i don't see a team with a stud qb, a young rb who looks pretty darned good, young lines and signed for years, and more picks than most teams fading into mediocrity.

besides, if the Pats were to fade either whoever takes over 1st in the east would have a better claim to ending the dynasty than the Chargers. the broncos might have a better case.

I could easily see the Pats losing and if they do, I will be cheering for the Chargers the rest of the way. I actually like this Charger team. Last year's loss to the garbage Denver team really bothered me, but losing to this San Diego team wouldn't be that bad.

If the Pats lose I will be completely bummed out, like I was last year. We had the horses and just totally imploded. Hopefully, that will not happen again this year.
However, if it does, I will get over it, just like I did last year.

I really hope we dont lose but I wouldnt be shocked if we did. Diego has tons of talent & are rested & healthy. ( not having Harrison is huge ) If we do lose I hope its because we played a great game but just got outplayed by a better team. I HATED the way we lost to Denver last year, we were done in by HORRIBLE officiating & turn overs. I was so depressed about that loss I could barely watch the rest of the playoffs.
I really think the winner of this game goes on to win the SB, if we get beat I'll be rooting for SD the rest of the way. Sure Merriman is a jerk but how can you not love LT, that guy is what every professional football player should strive to be, he's 100% class.

Go Pats!

If they lose, I'll be depressed for a bit and then look forward to the draft via the rest of the playoffs. No team can win it every year and the Pats are no exception. However, they CAN win. I would personally say that SD will win but I think it will be close either way. I like the way that this team builds for the future. Teams that build for the next year, through free agency, don't win much.

Nem, whilst I admire your willingness to defend me, I assure you I can speak for myself.

Spacecrime: Whilst I determine to resist the temptation to accept your apparent contemptuous attempt to defy me to explain myself "in english", I can only say that if you are confused, please specify your question. Lacking that, please aim your conceit elsewhere.
Oh my god, we have Lisa Simpson here.

FWIW, I think, THINK, the Pats are more than capable of beating the Chargers on sunday. In fact, I expect it. However, I've not seen this amount of reactionary vitriol in some time towards "visiting" opposing fans, nor a damning sense of gladed defensiveness. I am not used to this and I can only imagine that even the most loyal of fans have some degree of realization that our beloved Pats may, just might, lose this sunday.

So what if they do?

I'm not trying to be confrontational, nor am I making excuses. This team went 12-4, has made a great show in the play-offs thus far, and appears to be well-primed for future greatness. Winning the SB is tough. Luck and skill. For a team so historically inept, this recent rise to greatness has almost made us believe we are pre-ordained to at least defend our title, whether or not we are the defending champs this particular year. It's like the first time you get electric windows. The next time you have to actually roll down the window, you think negatively.

I've been reading our (PatsFans) interaction with Charger fans. If we do lose, we have a lot of 'splainin' to do, Lucy. It shouldn't be the case. The Chargers are no better than the Pats, but they can beat us on any day. I know talking smack is a part of a fans game, but fans have 0 weight in the game. As a former player, I can tell you than any player worth his weight never even notices whatever the hell the crowd is doing. They are invisible and don't exist within the game. They say they do only to keep good graces, as one says nice to meet you upon introduction. Nice to say, means nothing. Home field is more about comfort than the fans.

I only ask that PatsFans resort to actually personify the qualities they continually lambast actual Pats players about.

Not sure what you mean that, as a group, the board members will have explaining to do if we lose. Most posters are quite open about their respect for the Chargers and, I wouldn't confuse a little bravado by some of our more astute posters in the face of a tough opponent as anything other than the pre-game trash talking that it is (BTW, we all dismiss the blithering comments of the "experts" who discovered this team five years ago and who still aren't sure if the ball isn't stuffed with feathers). It certainly doesn't imply a lack of respect.

For myself, I think that a 14--2 record speaks for itself. SD is one holy heck of a good team. But, I also think that the Pats are exactly what they don't want to be facing on Sunday. We might not have a ten game win streak, but we've beaten tough teams who had a lot to play for, on the road, in Jacksonville and Nashville, down the stretch. We beat Cincy and Minnesota earlier on when they were each going strong, some would argue changing the entire complection of the season for two very good teams.

So, am I as confident that we're going to prevail against the Chargers as I was that we would beat the Jests last week? No way. But, do I think there's a slightly better than even chance that we're still gonna be playing a week from now? You bet I do. And, if we lose, I won't feel the need to do any 'splaining.

And don't forget Da Bears.
