Without wanting to come across as ignorant, as I think this could be a very close game, I have to say I think all their strengths play into ours right now.
Firstly, Flacco looked out-right TERRIBLE at the weekend. Now I know he's playing a tougher defense, but still...he hasn't got over the hump from game manager and that plays right into our hands. He's slightly better than Sanchez in my eyes though, especially when he gets on his streak.
For me you have to do two things and the game is done; win the field position battle and stop Rice. Without Rice Flacco can't carry this team. There is probably 1 (if any) of Flacco's playoffs appearances where he won his team the game and he's like a deer in the headlights when Rice isn't raking up the numbers!
The Ravens failed to score from inside their own half yesterday...scoring off of a Ray Lewis Interception and that stupid muffed punt by Jones which set them up on the two yard line. They also allowed a fair amount rushing in average as well as accumulative. They basically thrived off of Yates being the QB, a rookie who at times looked like he was way out of his depth. Credit to him the Texans they were in it right at the end.
What also stands out to me is the sacks, or lack of anyway. They failed to sack Yates once and only hit him twice. Give me that any day as Brady will eat hem for lunch, just like Phillip Rivers did a fair few weeks back!
I think with Chung and Spikes back, they provide a massive boost to our run defense. Our struggles only came along with those two and Carter all out at once...since we have had them back...well you saw what happened at the weekend in contrast to the first matchup.
Once you have Rice stuffed, I can't see Flacco taking it on his shoulders and, if the defense fails to deliver any pressure like they did against Houston, then our offense will definitely be able to move the ball.
If you can pin them in their half all game, I think they will struggle too. No TDs driving from inside their half to start all game is a huge thing to look at...I think they struggle to sustain drives with a one dimensional offense.
Mys core is this...Patriots 31-19 with four field goals. I see them having a tiny bit of success, but if they play like they did yesterday I can't see it showing. If their defense plays the way they did, Brady will be having a lot of fun that's for sure.
Don't get me wrong though, if they don't stop Rice I think our defense gets shredded...and if we find ourselves pinned inside our 20 too much that's a recipe for disaster against them too. Rice an d field position are the keys to this game...stop Rice and I think we have this in the bag.
Unless the Ravens turn their game around entirely from the weekend. The Texans drove on them, we should be able to too if they play like that...difference is we should be able to finish off the drives with who we have on offense.
