Enough Angst. I'm 'Going There': Pats Win By 20+ Tomorrow Night

Tebow is 0-1 in games played when under 40, that game was a couple weeks back in Buffalo, when it was around 30 or so and he lost 40-14, it is supposed to be in the low 20's and teens Saturday night. He stated before that game, he had never played with sleeves before, but was practicing with them for that cold weather.

I think this is underplayed. The ball has a totally different weight to it at that temp and its going to be so cold that he is going to feel it in his hands. 30s isn't all that cold. Single digits is another matter.

WBZ just reported him as "out" for the game.

I still don't get why there were any expectations for that 2009 team. They weren't very good. The 2010 team was a different matter. They should have beaten the jets but those things happen.

I also don't think this years team is a world beater, but this Denver team is maybe the weakest team they have faced in the past decade.

And Denver beat Pittsburgh, and Seattle beat New Orleans last year.


It's one thing to have confidence. It's another to be ridiculous about it.

It is huge, especially in a stadium like Gillette, where long distance field goals are already at a premium. Also, if it really does get windy, a new LS could easily have a bad snap to the punter....

It always comes down to any given Sunday. A couple of bad bounces and an off game, and any NFL team can beat any other NFL any week.

That being said, in 2009/10 losing Welker destroyed the Patriots, their offense was built around him, his loss was the end of them.

Last year, any given Sunday, Jets played very well and came up with a few good bounces and won.

This year who knows, but looking at the pluses and minuses

1. Pats beat them up a month ago.
2. Pats are getting back a couple key players at a time the Broncos are losing a couple.
3. Home crowd vs playing in Denver, a very very loud stadium.
4 Sea level vs Mile high.
5. Extremely cold weather and some wind for Tebow, a warm weather QB who has difficulty throwing short passes. Also, both he and his RB have had some fumble issues.

I never ever think any game is a given, but I do like the Patriots chances in this game.

Why? Do you think the Broncos will score at such a feverish pace that we will have no chance to catchup? I mean it would be nice if they didn't spot a team a two score lead for a change, but I wouldn't be terrified if they didn't score the first points either.

So what? That doesn't mean an upset is likely or that a rational evaluation of match ups can't lead to the expectation of one team blowing out another. In this case I think its pretty clear that the Patriots are pretty heavy favorites and it isn't unreasonable to predict a two score win. At the same time I think everyone understands that sometimes funny things happen and we don't get the expected outcomes. I think the OP had it right, its ok to say that you expect the Pats to win handily. You aren't going to jinx them.

Dude, I'm not playing the "moving the goalposts" game. You are the one who noted "occasional" upsets. I noted that it's been more than just occasional. I'm not going around in circles on this.

It's stupid to act as if the Broncos have no shot, given the history of the NFL playoffs in recent years. It's really that simple. People were saying that Denver had no shot against the Steelers, too. Then, when Denver beat the Steelers, it suddenly became "Well, Pittsburgh was injured" and "Well, Pittsburgh had a bad game plan" and "Well, Pittsburgh didn't play well".

Guess what? The Denver team that beat the Steelers team that it couldn't beat, beat the team it couldn't beat. The rest is just noise.

In my OP, I was joking about the only player on either team to wear #66 to beg for his old uni back. I didn't even know about his family situation at the time. This continues to quickly deepen as a "Kennedy-Lincoln" coincidental theory situation.

How is that a hard concept to grasp? I trust the Patriots far more with a lead, and I think the score could get out of hand if they start 7-0 early.
