OT - Jets players rip Sanchez, say he's lazy

There are multiple parties who share the blame here. The most important is Sanchez, next would be the coaches, and finally his teammates. Sanchez hasn't improved, which shows he is what he is or he isn't practicing/studying hard enough to progress at this level. The coaches are also responsible to hold him accountable for his actions or inactions. There is no threat of Sanchez losing his starting role because they have no capable backup at this point (I don't consider brunell capable anymore) . Rex has threatened sanchez to be benched but they are hollow threats since he hasn't followed through.

The playes ar responsible too, they should be encouraging him to get in the film room an on his ass if he's just going through the motions in practice. Instead they wait until the season falls apart and then rip him in the media. Ther are no leaders on that team and that includes the coaches.

I live in NYC and so I have news about these fools in my face every single day of the season and much of the off-season.

Sanchez struck me in his first two years as (a) not ready (Pete Carroll was right; he should have started for a full year in College) and (b) not all that bright.

This past season, though, he also seemed at times to be delusional. There is a major disconnect between things he says and how he plays. So, it's possible that he didn't even understand how bad things were in the locker room around his performance; denial is not just a river in Egypt.

So I turned on Gresh n Zo for the first time in about a year and listened for a total of about 30 seconds... Gresh - "I don't think Sanchez is the problem" Zo - "he's a pretty good quarterback" CLICK lol.. That was before I heard about this story so obviously that's what they were talking about.. Blathering idiots.

Could the fact that his O Line was patch work for most of the season, served as a distraction during games for young Sanchez?

During the last offseason, the Jets jettisoned a bunch of quality/leadership/chemistry guys (Richardson and Ellis for example) and replaced them with divas and selfish players. Could that have served as a bad example for a young Sanchez?

Casting blame is rarely productive for a football team. However if a QB loses the locker room, that is reason for concern.

I think the Jets make a run at Brees and give up the draft picks to get him.

If it were any other QB I'd probably feel bad for the guy, knowing how many punks there are on that team and how hard they probably are to deal with.

But I hope that smug, annoying DB enjoys an offseason of torture

LOL I don't get where some of you get these ideas from... Brees will get the exclusive tag. NO isn't letting him go anywhere, let alone to NY.

How much of this is attributable to Sanchez and how much has to do with the culture instilled by Rex "Loud Mouth" Ryan?

I think it started long before he got to the Jets, frankly. As Mo pointed out earlier in this thread, USC quarterbacks under Pete Carroll weren't exactly held to the highest standard of accountability... and even Carroll thought that Sanchez wasn't ready when he declared for the draft.

Living in LA has given me a little bit of perspective on the USC football culture, I think, and these guys are basically major celebrities in one of the media capitals of the world from the day that they're named the starter in college. It's no coincidence that Leinart, Palmer, and Sanchez are all regarded as guys with a ton of talent who are mentally soft and lacking a bit in the work ethic department. I'll be curious to see if Barkley follows this template, or if Carroll leaving might make the difference.

Even then, in the right situation, Sanchez might have been salvageable. With a season or two to sit on the bench, work on his mechanics, improve his accuracy and decision-making, and ultimately earn the starting job by outworking and outperforming a genuine pro quarterback, he might have developed into a hell of a player. But instead he was handed everything, including a top-tier QB's salary, from the outset. It was pretty much the worst possible situation for someone like him, in the long term. And at this point, I think it's probably too late.

I, for one, am positively overcome with schadenfreude

Can you please explain to me how the **** that is ever going to happen? Think there's any chance Brees get tagged? This is another example of NY fans of all of their teams thinking that everyone will automatically want to go there. What BS.

Where is Felger? Can someone called him today and let him have it? What a **** house

Sanchez is from that lazy so. cal lifestyle..."surfing, beaches & chicks man...I mean dude!"

Most damning words I've ever read from team mates...

The complex game plans didn't help matters, according to several people. Sanchez had difficulty absorbing the weekly wrinkles and changes, teammates said.

“So many games, he looked defeated before he ever took the field,” a team source said. “He didn’t have much confidence in what he was about to go do. You could tell throughout the week in practice. He never felt comfortable with some of the things we were doing. It was too much for him.”

So, can we conclude that Ocho and Sanchez are made for each other?

My sense is that Sanchez as franchise savior was DOA from day one. As illuminated by Kris Jenkins in a recent New York radio interview, Li'l Marky lacks the balls to be a strong leader. No amount of guidance or practice can instill that intangible, which Brady has in spades. Sanchez just doesn't want it badly enough.

I love how Mangold goes on Twitter and the radio and says that the stories are false and Jets fans say "See, it is the media out to get the Jets." Granted they choose to ignore that when Santonio Holmes threw the o-line under the bus in the media and the o-line shot back in the media, Mangold came out and said Holmes is a professional, well liked, and tries really hard. And we know those are three lies right there.

It is painfully obvious to any outsider that Sanchez lacks the drive to be a real contender in the NFL. I am not sure why the jets and their fans can't see it. Schotty was never the problem. The problem was the fact that Sanchez doesn't prepare for games the way someone like Brady does. He isn't able to play the chess game out there against the defense. He can't even able to manage the clock! And it isn't because he is stupid. It is because he isn't learning. Sanchez is too busy partying through his NFL career to realize it is slipping away.

My perception is the opposite. I've always thought Sanchez is a hard worker, pretty good leader, and prepares well for games. The problem is he doesn't have the tools to be a good NFL quarterback. His accuracy is just plain horrible; it has nothing to do with scheme- I think his hands are too small to grip the football well. He looks like he's about 5'2" out there, and in reality he doesn't have the ideal height. Although the media says he has a strong arm, I'm not sure where that perception comes from. And finally, despite the mental effort, he is just not bright. He can't read a defense, has no football instincts, and he can't make quick decisions. At no time during his career did he ever look like he has they physical or mental tools to be good. Even when he has good games, there are plenty of head scratching horrendous passes and a lot of luck breaks his way. Don't recall him ever carrying the team on his back- unless you call a last minute redemption drive carrying the team.

The problem with the Jets is their circumstance.

Woody has a billion dollar stadium to finance so the overall need is to be relavent.

Look at 2012, they are out of the playoffs and still a main topic. Their circumstances almost dictate they be a train wreck. That's why I doubt they can ever change.

If the Jets were to ever have any hope of Manning, they would essentially have to gut the entire organization and dispense with the Keystone Cops mantra.

i don't know if that would work for New York's second team.

I'll bet that was all Santonio Holmes.

And Rex thinks having no captains will solve this problem...

Gresh is a genuinely stupid human being who can't be trusted to get anything right. I expect people don't let him play with anything sharp.

Zolak just protects most QBs (Tebow being an exception).

This is brilliant. I am entertained and amused. Thank you New York.

Greshs' voice is just like nails on a chalkboard to me. Zolak I actually don't mind on Patriots all Access but the two guys together on the radio... It makes me feel violent, so I don't listen.

On Sanchez. I have no idea if he's lazy or dumb or whatever. My eyes tell me he's just not that good but maybe on the right team or paired with the right coach he could be. I hope not, I hope he stinks for forever and the Jests keep him. Regardless I am very much enjoying every last second of this Rats offseason turmoil.
