Schefter: Colts wanted Caserio!

Any bets that Caserio and BB sat down and had a great laugh after the phone call???

I wonder how hard it was for Caserio to keep a straight face and not laugh during the phone call??

Caserio is smart. The Colts' GM position is not a great position. The guy who takes that job is going to be the guy who cuts Peyton Manning and his whole tenure will ride on whether Andrew Luck lives up to his hype or not.

Polian has devastated that team. I know the popular saying this season was "the Colts are too talented to be this bad", but are they? Taking out the QB position, I see they are a o-line, d-line other than on DE (Mathis is gone), RB, LB corp (Angerer is good, but overrated because of his stats), and secondary (other than Bullit) away from being a Super Bowl contender. They have a lot of names, but not a lot of talent. They will likely lose Mathis, Wayne, and Saturday this offseason. The new GM has to rebuild this team from top to bottom.

Caserio will get his opportunities either here or somewhere else if he wants, but the Colts' job is a dog job unless Luck becomes the next Peyton Manning. Anything less and the new GM could be known as the guy who cut Manning.

Or the guy who passed on Luck.

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted, "Not true about '1st candidate we wanted 2 hire.' There is not any candidate we 'wanted to hire.' I haven't interviewedI haven't interviewed. ... That's the way people get false promo about being so coveted just because they don't interview somewhere; SHELL GAME. Leave us out of that BS."

The owner of the Colts has shot down this report.

It's interesting to watch Irsay get so worked up over the semantics of 'wanting to interview' versus 'wanting to hire'.

Is there any other chief executive in any profession that spends as much time on twitter as Irsay?

Now there's an account that'll be fun to follow next few months.

I found that interesting also.

It was clear that Schefter said that the Colts asked to interview Caserio. Schefter didn't say "The Colts interviewed Caserio and he turned them down after the interview. He turned them down BEFORE the interview even happened.

What I also found interesting is that some of the local media think that the Colts GM job is a prestigious position with no drawbacks.. (looks at Jeff Howe).

**** Irsay is an annoying prick.

he's nuts...pure and simple...gonna put a team together while waging a war of words in the instantaneousverse....he's a 1/2 watt bulb in a 10 million candle power league.

Wow, it's super mysterious as to why Caserio would prefer to not work under the thumb of a crazed, liquored-up, semiliterate owner . . .

**** the Colts! They better go look elsewhere.
