Caserio is smart. The Colts' GM position is not a great position. The guy who takes that job is going to be the guy who cuts Peyton Manning and his whole tenure will ride on whether Andrew Luck lives up to his hype or not.
Polian has devastated that team. I know the popular saying this season was "the Colts are too talented to be this bad", but are they? Taking out the QB position, I see they are a o-line, d-line other than on DE (Mathis is gone), RB, LB corp (Angerer is good, but overrated because of his stats), and secondary (other than Bullit) away from being a Super Bowl contender. They have a lot of names, but not a lot of talent. They will likely lose Mathis, Wayne, and Saturday this offseason. The new GM has to rebuild this team from top to bottom.
Caserio will get his opportunities either here or somewhere else if he wants, but the Colts' job is a dog job unless Luck becomes the next Peyton Manning. Anything less and the new GM could be known as the guy who cut Manning.
