Anyone have any idea or speculation on whether or not Rodney will be playing this weekend?

Nope, none at all.

EDIT:I was too busy being a smartass to say:Welcome to the board.

On his WEEI interview this afternoon, BB said that Rodney is better than he was last week, and they'll re-evaluate on Wednesday.

From the way he put it, Rodney returning this week sounded like a long shot, but even BB said "I have my fingers crossed."

I'm saying nothing.
Rodney knows where I live.

Even if Rodney plays I don't think he has the motors anymore to stop LT in the backfield or even stop Antonio. Even Polamalu had a hard time trying to contain Gates. He's so big and powerful.

I think just having him out there would be huge. He's a huge factor to a secondary that needs his type of leadership.

Rodney at 100% can take on Gates. Rodney at 80%? I dunno... but Rodney at 80% starts on most teams.

I'm thinking there is going to be alot of zone defense and disguising coverages to confuse Rivers. I bet they are gonna do alot of what they did to the Jets, give them the underneath, play conservative and force Rivers to be patient.

If Rivers has to go on 9 play drives I live the odd of him comitting at least two turnovers in the game.

The guy is playing in his first playoff game, I can see him having a meltdown like Big Ben.

If the Pats are able to control LT(easier said than done obviously) I like my chances with Rivers not beating me, but that's a no brainer.

Zone coverage is the answer.

I don't see Rodney playing, u guys remember Dyson out there for the Jets at the beginning of the game? I believe he had the same injury as Rodney and got burned on 2 plays by Gaffney and never returned. Although I will never count Rodney out I'd say chances are slim. How great would it be to go into SD with Rodney and Junior out there.

I agree, I don't see him playing either. I feel bad for the guy because it's his chance to stick it to the Chargers.

That was just bad playcalling. Dyson was playing Gaffney at least 10 yards back. They just took advantage and kept throwing quick passes to Gaffney.

Dyson was trying to get out of the game after the first play, but they couldn't sub him out because the Pats were running no huddle.

Another out coached maneuver by the Pats in a game that was full of them by both sides trying to catch the other off guard.

I really think Harrison is going to play this Sunday. The dude is a warrior.Never under estimate the heart of a champion.

Dyson is a corner. Rodney, as we know, a safety.

Corner requires more quick cuts, turns, etc when playing man to man.

Safeties can react to the play in front of thm. and does not require as much strain on the knee in cutting, turning , etc.

Hence, Dyson might not be able to go but Rodney might....

True safeties don't need lateral movement especially against LT

Although i would agree yor going to need Harrison to do those things against Gates because i cant trust Sanders or Hawkins going up against gates too much of a mismatch.

Harrison is going to need some of his quickness (as much as possible) to help defend Gates.

But if Gates doesnt become a factor (hope to god) Then Harrison can just run in there and pound the hell out of the running backs. Its what hes good at.

For some reason, Im slightly optimistic (really just hoping) that Rodney plays. Rodney was able to walk after the TN game, and it was a sprain rather than a tear, so Im just hoping...it's also a 2-4 week injury. Again, its mostly hope, but I believe we won't know til gametime anyways.

Also, its not gonna matter where Gates is if we can confuse Rivers enough that he starts to panic. We've shut down bigger, better and faster offenses with less talented Ds than we have now, so I like our chances.

Oh well, there is a positive way to look at it if he doesn't play...

Number of times he'll get steamrolled by Tomlinson: zero...

Can't say the same for the other Pats.

Steamrolled by Tomlinson?

These Charger fans are new to football, aren't they. FYI, Tomlinson is fast and elusive, a great back, but a steamroller he ain't. Compare his body to Earl Campbell's (a RB out of Texas who played for the Houston Oilers, a football team in the NFL that moved to Tennessee and changed their name to the Titans) and then tell me about Tomlinson's steamrolling abilities.

Another brilliant football mind

What's the over/under on the number of charger fans that come back here sunday night if they lose?
