That seems unusual....in December. They don't do this much...right?

Had to be done. I wonder how much he is gonna get.

Harris got 4 years and 36 mill so somewhere around that area?

Have to imagine between 7-8m per year.

Great news. Let's hope he stays healthy and that BB schemes him with some more freedom.

good news.

now the contract attention shifts primarily to welker.

Nice move! Time to extend Welker!

Great news... he deserves it.

Actually, in respect to the OP---he's actually locked up for 7 more yrs.

He was already signed through 2013.

Good move use the cap this year i would think.

Next they need to sign wes and draft WR...and a gaurd/center high.

good news.

Actually, one could look at it both ways, seeing as how Welker was obviously the primary contract concern already.

Mayo was already locked up through 2013...I hardly think they were too worried about Jerod Mayo at the current time.

The cap won't be affected much since anything left is simply rolled over into 2012. The bonus cash would affect the cash that the patriots must spend each year.

2012. He was signed to a 5-year rookie deal.

This is very good news indeed, but it has no effect on the team until 2013.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Welker, Green-Ellis, Carter, Anderson, Connolly, White and Slater. The contracts of all of these folks end THIS contract year.
