This stinks, the team went into the playoffs with no D-Line last year, now we don't have our secondary. What makes it worse is that the starting secondary wasn't even that good.

We need Chung back in a hurry for the playoffs. I know he isn't the best in pas coverage, but the guy is the leader in the secondary. I don't care if he doesn't play against Denver but I hope he is back for the playoffs with some game time action in the last few games to shake off the rust.

I would not be surprised to hear Chung to IR soon if that foot is not better within the next 2 weeks

I am not secure to say he will surely return,it will take a total effort on defense to get better anyway, not just one guy coming back.

It's not so much what Chung adds. It's who is subtracted. We are getting nothing from that safety opposite Ihedigbo. Same with Spikes. Gets Guyton or T. White off of the field. Should be harder to run on when those 2 come back. Hopefully Chung helps get the secondary lined up right and they improve a little..

Spikes was reported to have an MCL so he should be back at some point. Chung is a bigger concern because his injury was not disclosed. He injured his foot cutting and could put virtually no weight on it (although he was left in the game on one leg for two plays). I was thinking Lisfranc but who knows. At least no surgery and no IR yet, so he could be back in a few weeks. Okay, granted the defense is not going to remind anyone of the Ravens or Steelers, but Chung has been far and away the best player back there and they are a different defense with him. Spikes brings a unique physicality and is our strongest LB at the point of attack. Fletcher was playing well when he got hurt and hopefully he plays himself back to that form. Together, these three can make a difference, especially against a physical team that can run.

Yeah, i sure it will take a total effort, but the communication is better with Chung in the secondary. Also i felt like Ihedigbo was playing a lot better when Chung was in earlier in the year.

But again i agree, it will take a complete Defensive team effort to make this D average to good. Sometimes they can be great, and then just be horrendous. I just hope come playoff time, they can pull off a 2006 Colts run.

Funny you say that. If I recall it wasn't till Bob returned that their cavernous defense got real stingy.

Yeah, i was thinking that. Now Chung ain't Sanders, but I'm just hoping for some stability in the back end. All the shuffling isn't helping with this.

But that 2006 playoff defense also carried over to 2007 regular season, an that D held the Pats 2007 O to 24 points lol.

Chung is going to go on IR. I have a very bad feeling about it.

Patrick Chung is no Bob Sanders.

No doubt, but I think he is better for the back end communication. I sure hope he doesn't develop the same type of injury streak that Sanders has acquired over the years.

If anything, this secondary needs some stability.

I think he was on his way back and has had some kind of a set back to cause him to go back into the walking boot. I think if it were as serious as you fear, they would have put him the IR by now.

Let's hope you're right.

Even though he is a liability in coverage, he offers some improvement to the current group, and excels at his speed and tackling skills. His presence could certainly help, no doubt, but I hope he can come back in time to knock the rust off before the playoffs. I'm not sure how likely that is to happen, as they may let him rest up until then.

I guess we'll know more in the next 10 days or so.

Don't know about you guys but i am begining to like Ihedigbo better than made of Glass Chung.

Probably just you.

Patrick Chung did not making me forget Brandon Merriweather atleast Merriweather layed the lumber. I have good feeling about Ihedigbo atleast he's active on game days and the reps can only make him better...he's no Sergio Brown.

???

This is the first season where Chung has missed significant time.

Chung is the best tackler on the defense when he's in there (maybe along with Mayo). He has his lapses, but they are definitely a stronger unit with him playing. I hope he doesn't get IR'd.
