Patriots release Albert Haynesworth

Here are some careers that came crashing down after working with Belichick. (I know injuries played a role in some but that will not matter in the minds of players)

<snip>

Randy Moss

Didn't really put much thought into this post, did you?

It makes sense now...we needed to free up a roster spot now that Donte Stallworth is available!

Think about it, how many of the Pat's defensive players would start for the Jets, Ravens, or Steelers? Vince, certainly, maybe Spikes (if healthy), Mayo seems to be a shadow of himself, other than that, nobody.

McCourty....

In my opinion this is the best post in the thread. At some point in the immediate future Mr. Kraft will need to address how Belichick's leadership is affecting the New England Patriots actual brand image versus its desired brand identity.

What has the "Patriot Way" become to mean in the minds of NFL players?

If in the past few years very talented footbal players have come and gone through the Belichick process with several getting washed out, should Kraft begin to query whether NFL talent will percieve Belichick as a career killer?

Does this new "Patriot Way" positively or negatively affect the brand?

Perception is reality.

Here are some careers that came crashing down after working with Belichick. (I know injuries played a role in some but that will not matter in the minds of players)

Randy Moss
Adalius Thomas
Fred Taylor
Leigh Bodden
Joey Galloway
Derrick Burgess
Torry Holt
Albert Haynesworth
Chad Ochocinco

Is Belichick really that good at exposing finished careers or is something wrong with his ability to lead?

At what point will Kraft begin to question the common denominator?

Jodee

How the f*ck do you include Randy Moss in that list?

I could go along with the other parts of the post, but seriously... Randy Moss? A 34 year old WR who relied solely on speed started to decline in skill set? F*cking Belichick!!!! Taylor, Burgess, Galloway, and Holt were undoubtedly way past their primes. These aren't free-agent "busts".

Adalius Thomas was a bust, although the team got 1-2 seasons of good production from him. Bodden was a bust, although the team got 1 season of production from him. Ochocinco is thus far a bust, but there are definite signs of improvement, albeit very slow.

I think you guys are using the word "bust" too freely. Jamarcus Russel, Ryan Leaf, and Washington signing Albert Haynesworth are BUSTS. Most of the FA that the Patriots sign (excluding Thomas) are relatively low risk.

When I got on the board I was thinking the problem with the defense is we have'nt cut enough players!!! JFC WTF are you kidding me. Albert has been the only interior guy getting decent push. Looks like the same front seven as last year plus Carter. Two draft picks wasted on AH & Ocho and little to show. Who was planning these brain gems in the off season? I wish Bill would stop F***ing around and bring in an impact free agent in the front 7 and at safety. We sure as hell arent going to draft them!

I never said the word bust. I am saying either Belichick is really good at bringing in finished talent and showing the league it is so or that he cannot lead.

He's not gonna turn into the 08 AH in over a week. Let them sign him and take his baggage.

Tehy'll sign him, pump him for info, have him be a captain, and then cut him the next day.

If this is true BB has lost it, seriously Haynesworth in the limited time he's had on the field has been one of the better DT's on the team.

If anyone should have been released, it's Ochocinco who has done less for more money.

Terrible, terrible decision up there with releasing Bodden.

Suppose you can't speak out against the all mighty Pepper Johnson now? :bricks:

Another mind blowing move here by BB. It seems once anyone questions what any of the coaches are doing in any way (especially publically) they are GONE..... I don't think this was the best decision to make 5 days before we play the Jests. Big Al (always the malcontent I guess) was actually playing pretty darned well as you say and the Gints were indeed having to double up on him....which freed up Carter and others to get pressure on Gomer Jr. (as rare as that pressure was especially in 2nd half)

Anyways....have to get used to BB making moves that don't seem to make a ton of sense to us....but obviously does to him. See ya fat Al.....

Trading for Haynesworth was as brilliant a move as signing Monty Beisel.

BB is still a genius.

I can't believe all of the hand-wringing woe-is-me crying over cutting an absolute turd, a guy who was on pace for a two tackle SEASON.

Sure it was a mistake to think he would be an impact player in the first place. But to not recognize the mistake and to keep him around longer would make the mistake even larger.

Oh, cheer up. Doesn't bad news re: the Patriots translate to sunshine and lollipops in your world?

It's called mindless complaining.

When complaints go back to Monty Beisel, you know what's up.

I love all the fantasy GMs who never would have traded for Haynesworth. It was low risk with the potential for high reward. Yes it was an epic fail but for the price they paid if there was another talent who was disgruntled available for the same price sign me up for that risk. You don't hit on all of these. Dillon and Moss epic wins, Haynesworth and Ocho (to this point) epic fails.

Tackles are not how you judge a D-Lineman playing in a 2 Gap system.

Why was it a mistake to think that he could be an impact player? He took a huge paycut with the knowledge that if he screwed up he was gone. Also, he played decently enough on several occasions to tease us into what his potential could be. It was a low risk/high reward potential move for the Pats..

I cant believe all the crying about haynesworth being cut....why keep a guy who was evidently DOGGING IT out there?? our D-line is still a strength for us with Brace/Deadrick back...two guys who actually were giving a full effort..we've got 5guys at the DT position

maybe Ochocinco(as bad as his acquisition has been) is actually trying and its not connecting hence why he hasnt been cut

Love how Ron Brace and Brandon Deaderick are suddenly being touted as saviors of our wretched defense. Never mind that they were too out of shape to even practice the first 6 weeks of the season.

they were on IR...so they werent allowed to practice the first 6 weeks of the season.

What rock are you ppl crawling out from? No leadership? Tarnishing the brand? Who the hell do a lot of you ppl think created that brand?! Give me a break. Now many of these so called fans are on witch hunts. It's total crap. Lets run the guy out of town, I hear after the season Pete Carroll should be available.

Gronk Part II was released as well. Now we can finally sign Adam Seward! SB-bound baby!
