I really don't understand why the Patriots pass up quality for quantity when it comes to the draft, yet when they draft so-called talented guys like Taylor Price, or Shane Vareen or Steven Ridley, they wind up standing on the sidelines all game. Obviously, injuries had something to do with Price and Vareen, but they seem to be 100% healthy, and they are either standing on the sidelines dressed. Or not dressed at all. Price showed in the preseason that he has talent, and has learned the play book (unlike Ocho Stinko). Vareen, for Christ's sake, can't we use he speed and talent on the kick return ? Ridley, rushes for 97 yards on only 10 carries, and he's only carried the ball 3 times in the last 3 games.

Granted, it was nice to see Gronkowski and Hernandez used immediately, but I'm so tired of the Pats passing up primo talent for tons of draft choices that don't even make it onto the field, or just downright suck. You can flame away if you like, but I can give several examples of players we could have picked that could have helped continue the Dynasty, unfortunately poor drafting has killed the Dynasty.

because we had to give "poor" kevin faulk playing time today (sniff sniff) even though he's 35 and we already have 4 RBs on the roster. it was a complete favoritism job by belichick.

parcells had a big hand in drafting players from the dynasty days - not everyone obviously but many players on the defense.

sometimes i think belichick tries to outsmart himself by cutting players and trying to "coach them up." im just baffled with all the cuts the team has made in the secondary.

It's f*cking Vereen. I'm sick of people spelling it wrong on here. Jesus.

I feel the same. I love Faulk, but it's extremely disappointing after spending 2nd & 3rd rounders on RBs to watch them rot on the sidellines while a 35 year old dude with reconstructed knees gets the bulk of the carries.

Why give the ball to a strong and explosive runner like Ridley when you can pretend Kevin Faulk is Maurice Jones-Drew?

I refuse to believe that Vereen or Price can be any worse on the KR than what we've tried thus far. Have we had a single return past the 30 that wasn't a short kick? In a game like today we really could've used an actual threat back there.

And for all the importance we put on ST's our KOC/KR/PR teams haven't done jack this year. Punt coverage has been fine and Ghost/Mesko have been fine except for Ghost today. But we need better ST play this is the 2nd week in a row our offense has been grounded and it's likely to happen at least once or twice in the playoffs.

in all honesty the oline was completely manhandled today. i don't think ridley would have made much of a difference. games are won and lost in the trenches. we couldn't stop their run and couldn't get our running game going.

Thanks for the brilliant insight into the subject.

Your insight is equally useless. If you thought about your question for 30 seconds you'd come to a logical answer.

Welker, Branch, Hernandez, Gronkowski, Faulk, Woodhead, and BJGE have proven to Brady and Belichick that they are trustworthy playmakers. Why risk taking touches away from your best proven players in critical situations for unproven rookies/2nd year players?

Do you sit in for every Patriots practice and assess each player's understanding of the offense? Probably not. So trust the coaches.

Idiot.

Players drafted by the Parcells regime who won a Super Bowl were:

Bledsoe
McGinnist
Johnson
Bruschi
Law
Milloy
Brown (who Parcells also cut at one point)

I'm not sure that is as big a hand as you'd like to think.

Andrew,

Just because the coaches think/believe using old slow players like Ocho Stinko and Faulk is a better option than using young talent, doesn't mean they are right. Obviously it hasn't helped the offense be explosive the last few weeks. You mean to tell me that these coaches had two weeks to gameplan for Pittsburgh, and the best they could come up with is dressing a 35 year old rusty runningback with no speed, and a 35 year old wr who gives the team nothing ?

Is drafting Vereen, Ridley and Price just done because they have to make choices ? And never use them ? It's obvious that this teams offense can be shutdown due to lack of speed. Time to start using the talent that is just sitting there. Otherwise, just pass when it's your time to draft.

And adam vinatieri. All of those guys were HUGE.

That's basically the most important players on the patriots defense during those years.

It is very hard to believe, but there has to be a reason.

Richard Seymour, Mike Vrable, Roman Phifer (sp?), Bobby Hamilton, Ty Warren, Vince Wilfork, Rodney Harrison, Ted Washington (though only for one year)...when you state the "dynasty years" you give a lot of latitude as to which players to include.

What did Kevin Faulk not do today that Woodhead and Vereen could have? Woodhead hasn't been himself, Vereen hasn't started a game and you want to put him up against the Steeler's passrush to protect Brady?

Faulk exceeded expectations, and given the plays, I didn't see more speed or explosiveness giving him too many more yards than he did today.

I agree.

I think Price would be an improvement over Ochocinco. What was seen from preseason should be enough.

I think Faulk is the best blocker of the 4 RBs. I think Brady/Belichick trust him the most.

The Patriots didn't have the luxury of running the ball today. They barely got the ball.

Well I see a few defensive game changers on that list. Who are the game changers on this current defense?

Sheesh in the old days of the forum a few would
whine :cry2: about 'Play Action' :idea2: and 'Screen Passes' :rolleyes2: ... times they are a-changin'.

What ever happened to Aqua4ever or whatever that Miami Dolphin nit-wit fan called himself? The Miami Dolphins Suck for Luck campaign looks good for now!
