Gillette stadium noise vs other stadiums

I love going to games, screaming & yelling, getting rowdy, the whole bit. I too hate the idea of fans telling people to be quiet (!) or sit down during a key part of the game.

Having said that, the "let's stand up the whole game" thing is for the birds. I had to do in college, didn't like it then. It's ******ed and actually counterproductive--there's no shift in intensity for a really important part of the game.

So yeah, go to the game, go crazy. And sometimes, like when the Pats are on offense, sit the eff down and watch the game.

Very simple....Old Foxboro/Schaefer/Sullivan Stadium had many more drunken fans, less kids and families = much more raucous atmosphere and higher decibel level....

How I miss stumbling up that hill to the gates from Lot A in a drunken stupor...good times :)

Anyone who complains incessantly about how 'Kraft is cheap' and writes "Solder won't be worthy to carry Pat Harlow's shoulder pads...." has an obvious desire to relive the glory years of Victor Kiam!

If the stadium CAN be loud, and HAS BEEN loud, but it's generally not loud, that's on the fans. The stadium doesn't decide to be loud for Jets games and quiet for other teams.

My dad and I have a running argument b/c he gets annoyed when people "stand the whole game". I tell him we should be standing or we can sit on our couch at home.

Have respect for your elders, you young whelp!

Pats fans are simply too polite and classy compared to fans of most other NFL teams. Just look at the respective message boards. More than half of the guys on other team forums can't even spell properly! Those are the people that are really LOUD.

Humm, wonder if we could have a "Noise Check" at 3pm today from all the lots to determine "Hydration" levels. :singing:

You can make any stadium loud if only the slumps will get up and join along.

In the Home opener in Miami the Pat fans at one point were screaming defense on a Miami goal line stance. I was told on the TV that they heard us:rocker: How embarrassing is it to have the visiting teams fans rock your own stadium.

I agree. I dont buy into the Stadium Design Apologists.

Also, the college crowd I was in last night was filled with women, and old guys, and kids -- all standing and screaming for 3.5 hours straight. The whole bowl was like an endzone crowd.

Basically, what I am takin gaway from the this thread, is that the corporate $$ has looted the rabid fan base, with a few exceptions (?) like KC and Seattle.

Ergo - TFB - you can STFU. Its not us, its Kraft! :D

I've never been to an NFL game, but I did go to one college game when I was a student at Tennessee. We stood for the first half, sat during half time, then as the 2nd half started I heard somebody saying "NO! Please don't stand again! Please! Oh, no!" because the front rows were starting to stand and so everybody else had to stand as well. Despite the complaints, we stood through the whole game. And it was STUPID LOUD. We were 30 - 40 yards from the band and I couldn't hear them. My ears were ringing the next day.

Of course, this was Neyland Stadium at it's fullest capacity ever - according to Wikipedia the record attendance was 109,061 on that day against Florida. NFL stadiums don't hold nearly that many people, and not every game is as big a rivalry as TN/FL or Pats/Jets.

It sounded really loud on TV.

Shouldve been, there were 85,000 people there

Gillette CAN get loud but the stadium design is so open sound tends to disperse sound quickly. Noise was much more focused in the old Foxboro Stadium.

Cue the pink hat/corporate shill/golf buddy crowd complainers.

This would make a lot of sense if you lack the ability to compare crowd noise from one game at Gillette to another.

Stadium design is static, crowd noise (and enthusiasm) is noticeably diminished plenty of games.

That's because we're the most entitled fanbase in the league. We don't get loud and support our team we wait for them to give us something to celebrate about in between complaining about the Sox.

You just TRY to clap while holding an expensive glass of chablis. And how can you cheer when you're eating a fresh chef's recipe quiche while trying to hear the latest from your investment advisor seated next to you? Fans can be SO annoying!
