I don't think there's a gender difference in assessing the ad.
It's a taste difference.
I really thought it was goofy. Like what a kid who thought he was cool would put together, but he wasn't really cool.
I think some of us, myself included as a prime example, just flat out have to accept that we're not in Tommy's target audience. He's happy that we're pulling for him to win football games, but he's not trying to sell us shoes or athletic gear.
I showed this ad to my eight year old kids and they said, "Cool, dad." 'nuff said.
