Gronkfest: Pats sign Dan Gronkowski

A train wreck before or after Josh? He was cut by John Fox, who has the daunting task of cleaning up Josh's mess.

The Lions are clearly on the upswing....and cleaned house too. Color me unimpressed.

Seems like the Gronskowski pantie party brigade is strong, however. Guess headlines are pretty important to some. First Ochocinco, now the Gronkowski bros. Party on!

The current regime

Elway + Fox = disaster

And I love the people *****ing about McDaniels, when the guy absolutely robbed the Bears in the Orton deal.

I see that the title of the thread has changed and removed the ? mark.

Is this now officially confirmed? Do we have linkage?

Yes, Josh McDaniels was awesome as a head coach....yikes.

Actually, I'm looking forward to what he does with Bradford. Could be something special.

All this excitement over having brothers on the same team and cool puns and wordplay aside, a thought about the actual transaction:

Belichick said in his interview yesterday that when you place a player on waivers, you assume you will lose him.

The Patriots run more multiple tight-end formations than any team in the NFL. We often joke about how Belichick would prefer to draft only tight ends.

The Patriots waived both Yeatman and Smith, and lost both of them.

Belichick apparently decided to add a third tight end.

Again, it's really cool to add Gronkowski's brother.

However, it looks like the decision to try to run a three-TE offense with only two tight ends was re-thought. It was probably the biggest question raised in the 53-man roster discussions.

Would the Patriots be happier with someone they trained all summer in Yeatman or Smith, or a street free agent who is related to one of their current players? As a blocking tight end, Yeatman was listed 15 pounds heavier than G2, Smith 11.

Exactly. They took a risk and they lost both Yeatman and Smith. However, we got Gronked! C'mon, it's party time.....

Can never have enough Gronkowski's...

Eugenically speaking the GRONKOSKI's would be the "Master race". Screw the Nazi's and the Aryan belief b/c it is all about the GRONKS!!! and no 1 else. I can't think of a more successful Pro-Athlete family. They kick out Pro's like it is their job

Yes but he wasted both picks and cutler is still better than orton. Although neckbeard isn't as whiny.

Orton > Cutler

Not really even debatable post-trade

How is it not debatable? It's not like Cutler is getting much help on offense with a terrible OLine and mediocre WRs. Anyways, Cutler's team DID make it to the NFC championship.

WOuld have to agree. Cutler is on a very tight leash in Chicago. Next time he acts like a diva its bye bye.

Why the heck is this in a Gronk thread?

Do not insult the Gronk!!!

Keep the fantasy alive.

Now, back to Gronk...

So who do they cut to make room for this guy? I don't really get the cirlce jerk about him, he's not good enough to make it on any other roster in the league, apparently.

Wes Welker and Danny Woodhead say hi.

...the Gronk is strong in this one.

And I agree that this is a Gronk thread....

Well as you can tell, the sheer awesomeness of two Gronks on one team causes other threads to become obsolete and their posters have no where else to discuss the inferior topics

Anyways, I have no idea why this signing makes me excited. D-Gronk is clearly not as good as his brother.

But, on the other hand, he is a Gronkowski therefore a god

Gronk almighty, good luck for the 2 of them.

Hoping it's not true. Would much rather prefer Alge coming back after Monday Night.

Agreed if he's healthy. I have the feeling that he might not be. I'd prefer Yeatman to Dan.

Why didn't they just release Butler earlier and keep Lee Smith or Yeatman?
