Agree with most others. Unexpected cut. Seems we're quite thin at Safety. Although wasn't a huge fan of Sanders he was ok.



I'm thinking Deion Branch may be that cut. Ocho is struggling a bit but Branch is just meh. By cutting Branch I'm not saying to save Tate (he's had his chances and hasn't done anything with them). Who I am saving is BUDDY FARNHAM. This guy reminds me of one of my favorite Patriots players.... Troy Brown. The fact he's doing anything he can.. return punts, play safety, etc. might have earned him a spot.

Farnham is PS material..hardly a Troy Brown

IMO there is ZERO chance of Branch being cut...If any WRs are cut from the high profiled guys it would be Ocho who has struggled to sync with Brady and needs alot more time IMO unless Branch is secretly injured.

The reason why Branch is not playing is probably because he and Brady are almost always on the same page,Ocho has a ways to go to learn the system and I don't know if Belichick is willing to wait until mid season for Ocho to show anything...
while its not likely, Ocho could be gone like Galloway,Holt ect:

I think Tate stays regardless..

Maybe this is a sign that Josh Barrett is getting healthy?

He's been injured all last year and all pre-season.
His athleticism is terrific - elite size and speed. Obvious injury concerns.
If healthy, he's bigger, faster, and younger than Sanders.

Even if Lockett had not sustained that injury,I don't think he would have been Sander's replacement.

Arguably the weakest position on the team just got weaker.....and Merriweather is now the seasoned vet? Sigh....

This, if true, is shoe #1. It has to be. It makes salary room for the Merriweather/ Ed Reed trade. (Hey, if I'm going to make stuff up...)

Finally. Good riddance. Highly overrated. Got by for years on the reputation of "being a hard worker".

What a sucky thing to get by on. The more of those they get rid of the better, good riddance.

You guys can laugh and hate on my opinon but:

- Branch makes 2.2 million this year. Is our highest paid WR. Yet is like our 5th option when it comes to the passing game (Welker, Gronkowski, Hernandez, Woodhead/Law Firm, Ochocino/Branch)
- Highly doubt Branch is here after this year. He's a free agent in 2012.
- Branch is 32 years old and nearing the end of his career. Where Farnham is just starting his and puts forth the effort i think Belichick looks for and likes.

Sorry going off topic. Hope some DB help is coming. Not confident in our DB corps atm.

It is much like the Crumpler cut scenario that I called. He is pricey like Crump and I believe Sanders to replace will not be a tough void to fill.

Sanders much like Crumpler are easy cuts to make imo. Glad to see BB thinks like I do

Maybe he comes back with a new deal?

This is my first thought. Given what his salary and cap figure are for this season I've felt for months that there was a distinct possibility this could happen. For all we know the two sides could have already agreed to a new deal and he'll be re-signed tomorrow.

(Note: I just logged on and haven't read anything other than the first page of this thread so apologies in advance if I'm either being redundant, or additional information has come out on this matter.)
