Re: Unbiased Question...

I've seen Sanchez in 3 seasons as the starting QB and he still has a long way to go.

I'm not a Sanchez fan, but the kid has come through in some tough circumstances. How many last minute winning drives did they have last year? How many Champ games has he been in? How long has he been in the league? Yeah, he has things he needs to improve on and yes, the Jets defense is pretty damn good....but to say Hoyer would be better is ridiculous at best.

Is this a serious question?

Sanchez may have been inconsistent in the regular season but he has been clutch and almost flawless in the playoffs. He has thrown 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in 6 games (4-2). Hoyer has yet to start a single game in the NFL.

Case closed.

I see your points but thats the thing. I didn't just flat out say Hoyer is better, I said based on what I saw and IF he had 2, going on 3 years under his belt like Sanchez has, I think he would have developed to a better QB than Sanchez.

Just from what I've seen from him, pocket movement, poise and accuracy... It doesnt matter who's on defense, those are things that make QBs great. Sanchez has neither. Thats my argument. I know Sanchez has improved and done some good things, I've stated this, I have nothing against Sanchez at all.

You missed the point completely.

Case still open.

Sanchez's accuracy is inconsistent, but poise? How about all the comeback victories he led the Jets to last season? How about marching into the territory of a division rival that had just a few weeks ago embarrassed the Jets 45-3 and utterly humiliating that same team? Sure Sanchez has had his downs, but so far such low points have only made him better each week.

Re: Unbiased Question...

I rather doubt Hoyer would start with TFB on the roster, and even though Hoyer has had very limited playing time he's been more impressive than Sanchez has been IMO.
So in your Unbiased opinion in the Ten minutes or so Hoyer has played in a real live game you've determined (again unbiased) that Hoyer is a better player than Sanchize whos started appx. Thirty Two games?.....O.K.

I didn't bother to read the whole thread but I'll assume that the opinion I am about to make ISN'T unique.

This is a DUMB thread. I'm ashamed that it has over a 100 replies (including my own). I'm ashamed that fully a THIRD of the Pats fans here gave our back up QB who has NEVER started a single game the nod over a QB, with all his "flaws", has 30+ starts and 4 playoff wins....ALL on the road.

.....did I mention this thread was DUMB

Yes, just likee I saw Taylor Price in the 2nd Miami game last season and knew that he was very guickly going to be better than Tate, and it seems I was right about that too.

If you had to bet keeping your job on Sanchez, go ahead, I'd bet on Hoyer.

Like I said, we all know the facts, we all understand that he has his "flashes" of goodness.... We all know what he CAN do and HAS done in recent games....

but the fact of the matter is I believe that Hoyer would've been better if they had swapped teams. Anyone on the same team would be second to Brady, the Jets have been struggling to land a franchise QB for some time until Sanchez.

Thats all I was saying.

Its not DUMB if you really take the time to really get what my initial point was. I never said Hoyer is better than Sanchez, I said give me your insights and thoughts on what you think could have been if Hoyer was a starter.

My own personal opinion was I "THINK" Hoyer would have developed better than Sanchez from the few snaps we've seen. I understand I have no solid ground to say he is better than Sanchez....

any team with a top 5 ranked defense is going to do well in the playoffs... whether they have Brady or Sanchez.

Dave Brown was better than Sanchez.

So basically, you are saying the Packers were completely stupid to dump Favre. He won in the regular season, playoffs, and Super Bowls.

They dumped Favre to go with a kid who for three years did nothing but end up on IR one year.

Ted Thompson is an idiot to go with Aaron Rodgers.

The point is that the question can never be truly answered. However, using the playoffs, 30+ start thing is complete nonsense.

Time will tell. Let's see what happens next year when Hoyer is available on the market. I still don't think it's even a debate, but I could be wrong. If Hoyer had more potential, I'd assume the phone would be ringing off the hook and we'd have already traded him.

For all we know that phone could be ringing, it might just be that A.) a team like the Dolphins where BB does not want to willingly send a player with as much knowledge of the system as Hoyer has there or B.) BB doesn't believe that Mallet can be a true #2 yet and does not want to unload Hoyer until he believes Mallet is ready to back up Brady.

A few weeks back on NFLN, Mike Lombardi mentioned that when he interviewed for SF, he said his first move would have been to trade for Hoyer.

He didn't get the job and SF is still with Alex Smith.

If you were the GM would you trade for Hoyer or Sanchez?

How would you knoww how much potential Hoyer has? Consider this for a second, Hoyer has legit NFL experience yet most teams wouldnt give up a high pick for him yet they'd spend a 1st round pick on a guy with 0 NFL experience. There seems to be very strong paradigms in the NFL and thinking outside them will not help you win friends and influence people.

I've stated I could be wrong. That said, my money is on Sanchez.
