Bad News May Be Coming For Patriots Haynesworth After Plea

C'mon folks. Of course the Pats front office was part of the decision to take this plea. Of course they've already had informal conversations with the Commissioner. This is like a piece of federal legislation - it's all wired up through private conversations before the debate on the floor even begins. The rest is just theater.

The Pats and Haynesworth already know what the Commissioner is going to do with this.

I had no idea there were so many lawyers on Patsfans. Explains a lot.

I hope Ian gets over his own case of over reactionitis soon... It doesn't do his board any favors...

No question about this. The prosecutors had ten witnesses lined up - this guy publicly groped a waitress in a W Hotel restaurant. Lovely. A trial would have been the end of his career. The Redskins board had several threads dedicated to this skirmish and many wanted Albert fileted by the prosecutors. The Pats are the last chance saloon, and it appears that Albert understands that.

I wrote it primarily quoting Florio's piece - as much as it pained me to do so. After it came out, several other local writers all confirmed the league was reviewing the situation, with a couple of national people saying there was reason to believe he could have been suspended. So I figured it was necessary to write it.

Needless to say go easy on me and don't shoot the messenger. I don't really have an opinion on this one because I didn't follow his previous issues. I'm also not a legal expert, so I'm in a 'wait and see' bracket when it comes to this topic. Although at this point after everything that's been written/discussed, nothing would surprise me.

Ian-

I'll probably get jumped on for saying this, and by no means is this a form of disrespect. This is hands down the best patriots website on the planet and you do a great job with it.

But it seems like all your "articles" are just short blurbs summarizing a few real articles put out by beat writers and national media. I stopped clicking on them a long time ago as they don't really offer any information that we didn't already know. Which begs me to ask... Why bother? I think your daily links pages are much more worthwhile and provide all the new material we need.

If you were intent on following up on something actually worthy of discussion from Florio's site, you might have chosen this topic - which oddly hasn't shown up on the board at all today. I for one don't wonder where the nationals get their ideas. Gauging the vocal minority Boston malcontent/fantasy fans who call sports talk radio to vent and and post drivel on sites like this...their conclusion isn't all that off the mark. Sad commentary on the state of Patriots Nation too, as it's an embarassment to real sports as well as Patriots fans.

Wondering why Brady isn’t more beloved in New England | ProFootballTalk

when he gets suspended at least it will give him time to get into shape . then again he wont be allowed to do anything with the team. not a good start at all . the guy is a idiot no matter what uniform he now wears

link?

I thought the story was that he stuck his credit card between her bazongas.

Classless, for sure, and turd-like, but not on the level of Big Ben or even Peyton Maniing in college (if you care to google "Manning Naughright incident"

It's tough - and I don't blame you at all for bringing up the subject. What I try and do with most of them is to try and expand on a topic and include additional details that may not be included with the original report, or to include other bits of information I've seen/read. It's different when you're trying to effectively aggregate and make them informative.

A lot of the entries are just a vehicle to provide people with a quick summary of what's going on, and sometimes there's more than one take on a topic from different writers, so I try and include everything to have everything available in one entry. Not to mention that a large percentage of the entries are ready by people who don't even use the forum. So it's tricky, because they're generally written keeping in mind that casual fans are going to be reading them, as well as the people here in the forum.

Thanks for the kind words on the daily links entry. That one takes well over an hour each day to put together, and it's also done first thing in the morning, generally before all the rest of the news for the day happens - which is why I try and provide additional updates throughout the day. But the additional plan is also to have additional breakdowns like the Ridley entry and a few other player spotlights. So you'll see those too.

I appreciate the feedback, and obviously I'll take this and will adjust going forward to try and make them better. As for the article Mo pointed out - I was out at my son's football practice when that came through - so that's why it was missed. Give me a little credit, because I did make sure to include a separate mention of Silver's article on Kraft this morning. I try to focus on everything, not just the negative stuff

Some people are just naturals.

That's a good point. I forget about the casual fan... You know, the guy who doesn't spend 5 hours a day lurking this forum

Looking forward to the new updates.

At the risk of further derailing this thread on AH, and asking a question I'm sure has been answered before... Any thoughts on making the site tapatalk compatible? I didn't see what the fuss was about, but I finally broke down and got the app on my iPad and iPhone... Makes browsing and posting 10x more convenient on a mobile device. Don't know how much legwork that would take on your end, but I personally would love to see it. This is my only frequented forum that I can't browse on tapatalk

TapaTalk is installed on this forum, albeit the older version and not the one for Blackberry - yet. I'm having an issue with my main registration and just haven't had time to update it and include the other mobile phone version.

When you go into it, you have to search for "PatsFans" to find this board. I didn't put in the main directory because I was concerned about random people coming in here and then flaming because that app makes it so convenient. I installed it simply to make life easier for current members who had an Iphone/Ipod Touch, etc. to use it.

But it's installed and I use it when I'm not home, and agree that it's very useful

Ian

Just FYI

Brady does not complete 100% of his throws

BB does not win with 100% of his game plans

I'd be in a sanitarium...or worse..if it wasn't for this blessed mecca.

great fans make a great forum but it takes a great man with foresight, dedication and hefty dose of love to create and maintain this Patriot fan paradise.....:youtheman:

(BTW...the idiots, of whom I am one, would like to request an addition to the emoticons page.Ive seen a slew of new ones lately that are simply riotous..and remember, riot is a big part of Patriot.)

Florio is a flame-thrower. His site mixes news and rumors skillfully -- and some would say purposefully. He is a good enough writer with a wicked sense of humor and he gets away with it because of his aw shucks,self-deprecating style. His sole interest is to keep visitors coming back. So, every piece of news gets embellished by his editorial comments some of which are purposefully designed to inflame and excite the fan-reader. Notice how he casually tosses out the idea of the Pats cutting Haynesworth following his plea while casually mentioning in the next breadth that Goodell might go easy on him because of Kraft's role in bringing about a new CBA.

At his core, his aim is to agitate and place PFT and himself at the center of discussions. His importance depends on how much others like Ian treat him seriously.

Let's recognize Florio for the self-interested promoter and equal-opportunity agitator he is -- and NOT add to his importance by relying on him.

If Hanyesworth was just an average joe like you or I, this wouldn't even be an issue.
