Asking price for Asante Samuel - 2 second round picks

I will never forgive Samuel for that dropped Interception in the Super Bowl. Then he added to his miscue by not coming over and drilling Tyree while the ball was dangling on top of his helmet. Samuel is the scum of the earth to me!

Well... we all know how much Rex values his draft picks. I'm sure he is discussing this right now with his owner.

Asante is terrible period. For every play/pick he makes he gives up two. The guy has led the league in missed tackles for the past three seasons. That is pathetic and it tells you two things 1) he clearly can not or is unwilling to tackle - my money is on the latter, 2) teams are not afraid to target him.

It was good riddance when he left and may he never return to NE in a Patriots uniform.

IIRC Asante was not in position to make that millisecond hit to knock away Tyrees catch...if you want to blame someone other than Harrison then it's Sanders who was very close by but seemed to pull up when he appeared to believe the pass was going to be dropped.

I'd do 2nd and a 5th, maybe. Current price is too high. Would love to have Samuel back.

Samuel did some great things for us but now we have an all around all-star Cornerback who can cover as good as anyone and tackle as well. To me, he will be one of those multiple probowl type talents that will be around for a long time. I seen him in the mold of a Ty Law rather than Assante. This guy in Devin McCourty has fantistic hops, great instincts, impeccable football intelligence, great patience and a knack for being around the ball all the time. His rookie season was no fluke, and is a huge piece to a hopeful Superbowl run. Like mentioned earlier, with Leigh Boden who is a very good and savvy veteran with good instincts... CB is no longer a need. Just need a little bit more from the back end (Meriweather to step it up) and everything is fine. The current star CB is better and will be better than any other CB New England has probably ever had since Hayes.

They'd be lucky to get one second for Asante.

They offered me Asante Samuel
I said NO, NO, NO!

From the article itself:

"Typical caveats apply, of course: This is imperfect data based on the game charting project, which means it comes off limited television camera angles. In past years, this data has been very inconsistent from year to year, and we're going to study that in the offseason to try to figure out if we can get more accurate numbers by, say, looking at players over two-year spans. (I wrote this last year as well, but this offseason we have, shall we say, "extra free time.")"

=========================================================================

Do those stats include all the times he jumped a route without any help over the top and then his guy runs for 20 yards? TV angles are not a good way to grade out DB's for every play, it is too limited.

The guy is a huge liability. And the Eagles thought he was so great that they went out and traded for a young CB with a huge upside unless he goes the way of Asante, and paid huge money to Nmadi. Is their perception reality?

+1.
He had safety help for most of the time so if he jumped a route, the eagles wouldn't get burned. The Eagles Giants game (2010 1st game) was a good example. Cris Collingsworth said the same thing.

I still haven't forgiven Samuel for doggin' it on the Tyree catch. He just stood there and watched Rodney wrestle with him instead of running up to help on the play.

They're looking for suckers. Al Davis might be interested.

He's willing to throw in a conditional third for a goddamn snack, if that'll make the deal happen.
