Re: First Pats draft pick signed

Do we usually sign 6th round picks to 4 year deals?

Re: First Pats draft pick signed

I'm not positive but I believe the new rookie wage scale came with a condition that all picks get 4 year deals.

Re: First Pats draft pick signed

we just signed our 10 sack guy. hell yeah.

Re: First Pats draft pick signed

we superbowl now

Re: First Pats draft pick signed

Of all the Patriots' draft picks of the last five years, the only one I can think of who didn't sign a four-year deal (or longer) is Justin Rogers in 2007.

In any case, it's been reported that contracts for all drafted rookies must run four years (and UDFAs for three years).

Re: Reported Patriots UDFA signings

Pats signed a total of 12 UDFA.

OG Mike Berry (Auburn)
OLB/LS Ryan Coulson (Nevada)
OT Kyle Hix (Texas)
ILB Anthony Leonard (West Virginia) -- (reported Tuesday)
OLB/DE Clay Nurse (Illinois) -- (reported Tuesday)
WR Jeremy Ross (California) -- (reported Monday)
OLB/DE Alex Silvestro (Rutgers)
ILB Jeff Tarpinian (Iowa) -- (reported Monday)
OT Corey Woods (Akron)
TE Will Yeatman (Maryland) -- (reported Tuesday)
K Chris Koepplin (Massachusetts)
OLB/DE Aaron Lavarias (Idaho)

Koepplin is in camp kinda the same way the Pats brought in Robbie Gould back in 2004.

Aaron Lavarias is interesting: (will be updated shortly)

Interesting that Berry can also play center.. He was also used as a pulling guard quite a bit for Auburn.

Wrong numbers on his stats. According to all the information I could find, he had 10.0 sacks this year, not 7.5. Add that all together, and he sounds like a much faster, younger version of TBC. Interesting stuff.

Reamer - those were CAREER stats, not just Senior year.. Though I have to correct it and say it was 9.5 sacks his senior year. 9 solo and 1 assisted (the half).

The official Idaho college site shows 10 sacks for Lavarias.
He looks interesting.

The comparison to TBC is apt - although TBC was 15 pounds heavier at almost the same speed. The guy looks like a versatile developmental player - some experience in coverage, great speed, effective pass rusher, productive tackler. Of course, we could also compare him to Marques Murrell - same size, special teamer.

Lavarias and Yeatman are the most interesting udfa's.

Ridley and Williams signed..

so, we have Mallett, Solder, Vereen, and Dowling left. Cannon twitted that he's in Foxboro to sign tonight.

Mallett should be signed, sealed and delivered on Friday

RapSheet Ian R. Rapoport
I'm told the 4-year contract for #Patriots 3rd-rounder Ryan Mallett just lacks signatures. Agreement reached, should practice tomorrow

Re: Mallett should be signed, sealed and delivered on Friday

i really hate the idea of keeping 3 QBs on the roster, but i don't know how you justify cutting your only real backup QB (Hoyer) or your 3rd round (1st around talent) QB (Mallet).

keeping an extra man here severely hurts you somewhere else. the patriots will have to cut a great prospect just so they can keep mallet on the roster who in all likelihood wont do anything for the patriots in 2011.

Most teams carry 3 QBs. BB said he felt lucky that they've been able to get away with having 2 active QBs on the 53 the past few years.

Re: Mallett should be signed, sealed and delivered on Friday

You can keep the 3rd QB on game days for free basically. If he comes in before the 4th, starter can't come back. Doesn't count as the 45.

this has been changed. Now it's 46 players period. Coach's choice whether there are three QB's active.

This is great news, preseason games are actually going to be decent to watch this year. I hope this kid is up Bradys butt. I mean he couldn't of been giving a better opportunity here in NE with the coaches, the mentor, and hopefully winning.
