Pats Trade for Haynesworth (merged)

A lot of opinions may have been shaped by how much it would cost to obtain him and how much his contract would run. The deal has to be seen in that context.

Low risk high reward.

That's pretty much what the sentiment in that thread was, as I read it. The overwhelming majority of people figured thee was no way that Snyder would let him go, due to the financial implications involved. At the time, that was a reasonable position; I'm still more than a little surprised that Snyder is basically paying for Haynesworth to play for the Pats.

Rodney, Dillon, Moss...who am I missing in terms of guys with malcontent reputations that turned into gold under BB's watch?

Brandon Meriweather. But that depends on the week...

Chad Johnson is next, which will address WR issues, and that will leave RG, OLB and RB as the spots to watch for upgrades.

Felger and Mazz are KILLING him right now.

Is Vince a bad guy for "trying" to poke out an OL's eye through his facemask? It's football, not synchronized swimming.

Bryan Cox.

I said the Pats should have traded for him last year, so needless to say I love this move.

Felger and Mazz are KILLING him right now.

I listened to them for about ten minutes at the start of their show. They discussed all his baggage, which was fair, and Felger even said it was a good move by the Pats. But then Mazz started taking it down the "so why didn't they just keep Seymour?" path and I switched to the iPod.

IMO, there's really not a lot someone can do on the field that can make me judge them as a person. There's too much adenraline and emotion on the field to take a person's character on the field and associate it with their character off.

Vince is a good example of that. On the field, he's a badass, who occasionally crosses the line. Off the field, he's a quiet, responsible, big-hearted member of the community and a family man.

In Haynesworth's case, he has transgressions off the field that are troubling. I don't know how legit his sexual harassment case is, but that's the one thing that can really get me to not root for a guy. Players/people who treat women poorly just aren't worth rooting for.

I am loving this move. The price is good, a 5th rounder two drafts from now, and I think Haynesworth will be the replacement for Seymour and I can see if a healthy Ty Warren comes into this season healthy, this line will be sick and will be deadly to opposing QBs. And if we are going with 4 DL, Wilfork and Haynesworth will not be moved from the middle with their 700+ lbs of girth there.

Duh.. Mazz.. I can think of about 35 million reasons why the Pats didn't keep Seymour..

Warren Wilfork and Haynesworth...thats a big line. Lets just hope he's in shape

It's still funny listening to him go Berzerk. lol

And the callers...good lord. They are weeding out the worst of the worst to put on the air today. lolol

Interesting move, if anyone can keep Albert in line and get something out of him its BB.

Josh Miller, former Patriots player, former Haynesworth teammate, does not thing much of Fat Albert.
