Now if you want a JAG,then no big deal
There is only ONE really big name player at OLB I would love to have and think that as an addition that would improve this defense immediately and that is Tamba Hali
.... that will never happen

Updating this for the Patriots realizing that the dollar amounts below have yet to be announced for 2011.
1 unrestricted free agent for $5,807,475 or more in Year One of contract + the same number of Patriots free agents who sign with other clubs + any unrestricted free agent for less than $3,861,823 in Year One of contract with limitations on per season increases.
Let's say that the Pats wanted to sign an UFA to a 5 year deal worth $40 million.
They could easily do so by giving a $18 million signing bonus.
and having the following salaries
2011 2,500,000
2012 3,250,000
2013 4,225,000
2014 5,300,000
2015 6,725,000
while also following the 30% rule.
That contract is for elite players, not JAGs.
Which means if the Patriots somehow pulled that off (which is 99% unlikely), it would likely be done through a trade, which isn't part of the final eight rules I believe.
