SI's Don Banks Final mock draft...pats picks..

17. Da'Quan Bowers DE
28. Mark Ingram RB

Cant tell you how much I would love it.

of course now that im all excited, im gonna watch 3 1/2 hours of the draft tommorrow night, only to find out that BB traded out of the first round entirely, and we will have 9 2nd round picks...:violent:

If Bowers knee checks out then I would love this. Of course if his knee checks out then he wont fall to 17. Catch 22 situation

I am beginning to wonder if Bowers' knee prognosis is overblown. I mean Gronk dropped to the second round because there were reports thant he had stenosis. So far that has worked out for the Pats. I wonder if people are overblowing his knee to make him drop.

I don't know if I want Ingram over an OLB or o-lineman though. I wouldn't be upset if they took him at 28, but he isn't my first choice.

Bowers would be incredible..at one point some people had him as the best player in the draft. I think if he's there at 17, the Patriots have to consider him. The medical reports and how they're interpreted by team doctors will tell the tale there.

I like the Ingram at 28 pick if there are no impact defensive players left to take there, and there may not be if there is a run on DLs, DEs and OLBs in the first round. I still feel that a good back can be had in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Yeah I wouldn't be upset either. I think the focus should be on the Defensive Front 7 and OL early on, but that is value even Bill couldn't turn down.

Is Bowers really a "fit" for the Pats?

Because my initial thought is that he's too small for a 3-4 DE and too big for a 3-4 OLB.

O.K. Ugliest scenario ever....
Can we also have Carter in the 2nd, Romeus in the 3rd to complete our totally IR draft?

He's on film playing 3-4 OLB, and 6'3 3/8" 280 is Vrabel's height and a shade over Willie's weight. I'm sure he can drop 10 lbs if he needs to. As to DE - Jarvis Green was 6'3 1/8" 272 at the Combine. There's no doubt he could get to the passer off the edge, and they kicked him inside at times to disrupt things there, I'd say the two biggest questions are his professionalism and his medical. Not knowing anymore than you about either, I'd take a chance on him.

I just read the complete draft and Wilkerson doesn't get selected in the 1st round. Maybe we won't trade #33 after all...

Horrible, horrible first pick. Bowers? A player with ONE year of productivity? As our first pick? Does that sound like Bill Belichick to anyone? And the guy's not even a fit for our scheme. If Bowers is falling that far its for good reason.

I've gotta agree...plus he has JJ Watt still on the board. Look at the measurables between the two:

Bowers : 6'4" 275
Watt : 6'6" 292

One was a walk on and classified as a Hard Working - Locker room - High Motor guy. The Other was a one year wonder, with a knee issue.

Don Banks, sorry buddy, you failed.

I'll say I'm sorry if the cards fall like this...but I highly doubt Bowers is on BB's draft board in round 1.

Costanzo and Watt in Rd one...even if BB has to trade up, would be a very good start for the Pats draft......get a RB in round 2 or 3 ....

Trading down for good players instead of staying put for potentially VERY good players should be minimized by BB in this draft...a trade out into next year would be ok, but he's already got a team loaded with youngsters....not all the picks will make the final roster...need quality over quantity out of this draft ..

very good point. we have alot of solid guys, now we need some all stars. im all for getting a RB in round 2....as long as that RB's name is Ingram. I know there are alot of haters here with him, but I think hes a special talent. Dont care if its at 17, 28 or 33. Just want him.

bowers over watt?

the guy is an idiot

no point of taking someone at 28 if that body is going to be at 33 in terms of ingram......

in his scenario, watt, sherrod, reed would be the best possible

I'd rather have Cameron Jordan and Danny Watkins, thank you very much.

Reminds me of Emmitt Smith

Apparently every team has cleared Ingrams knee. Dr. Andrews cleared his knee. and he wasnt asked for a medical recheck from the combine, like most players with injury concerns are. The guy gets hurt one year and now hes got the body of a 33 year old??...not buying it. Hes a complete back that can do everything. Like i said, get him at 17, 28 or 33....just get him.
