Figured I'd bump this . . . ironic how much WIN and FAIL this turned out to be. :)

I am ok with it other than #2a. I think we can get Olsen from the Bears for 2a and #119 and they give us back a third and Olsen. Untested injured rookie versus a proven NFL young decent contract 70 reception TE...No brainer.

So a second and very late fourth get us a third that BB wants and a starting TE.

Where do I sign?
DW Toys

GRONK SUCKS!!!!

Haha just kidding. No one probably saw that coming especially after back surgery. (No one except the Patriots FO).

i LOVE reading these "after the fact" threads! I'm actually impressed that they got us taking Gronk, Price and Deadrick! I also love to see how our "binkies" almost always FAIL! lol To think about how high i was on Gholston a few years ago. I was also a little unsure about McCourty last year. Great job on the BUMP!! ;) Hopefully next year we'll be talking about KERRIGAN(my "binkie" this year) like we're talking about McCourty.

That explains alot.

It's unfortunate that prior threads can't be required teaching tools.

Yeah....in your haste to get an unneccesary dig in, it's unfortunate that you couldn't be bothered to read my third post in the thread....you know, the part where I said Kindle wasn't on my board, but I thought it was a good draft in spite of that?

Nobody, but nobody can cherry-pick like you. I guess some people are just a@@holes.

Actually, I did see it. I also knew you would respond.

You "loved it" with a first round bust!!!

Makes complete and perfect sense.

Yes, in February 2011, we know that Kindle fell down the stairs and didn't play a down due to a serious head injury. I suppose that you knew in April 2010 that he would be a first round bust. Regretfully, I lack your powers of prescience.

I wasn't high on Kindle last year. I was high on Gronkowski, Hughes, Lissemore, Price, Moats, and Deaderick and would have been happy with that draft haul, even if it included Kindle.

Unlike some posters here, I do acknowledge the possibility that what my non-professional scouting eyes tell me about a player isn't necessarily so, and that a very athletic player I see as a bad fit might have the light bulb turned on and turn out to be a good player with hard work and good coaching. If Belichick drafted Kindle in the first round, I would assume that he would have done his due diligence in scouting, and felt confident that he would be a productive player. It addressed a position of need, and thus would have been a good draft in my opinion.

Of course, you knew he would be a bust, though, and Belichick would have knowingly drafted a first-round bust. Hats off to you.

Yikes, what a crappy draft class this would have been.

we would never pick Price and Gronkowski

Did I "know" Kindle would be a bust? No, I can't tell the future.

I do know a one dimensional pass rush specialist is overrated.

I do know when a "pass rush specialist" is touted as the answer to the situation, stay away. What's up with Hughes?

This is the same type of logic that says don't use the worst pass defense in the NFL as a guide to a better pass defense.

How about we just cut the sh!t, and say it for what it is: I think improving the Patriots pass rush is the key to improving the pass defense. You don't -- You'd rather improve the secondary. You're unwillingness or inability to make a post without mentioning the Cowboys pass defense is remarkable.

Hey, did you see the Super Bowl last night?
Yeah, I did. Using the Dallas scheme is not the answer.
What?
Using the Dallas scheme is not the answer. They were the worst pass defense in the NFL last year.
Right. Hey, this pizza is good...I've never ordered from this place
You won't improve the Patriots pass defense by using the 2010's worst pass defense.
What's with you? What do you think about the President's latest speech?
I can't believe that he didn't mention that the Patriots pass defense won't be improved by copying Dallas's pass defense...

You are getting boring, repetitive and wrong. You are neglecting disagregation of individual abilities and efforts in your analysis. Let's back things out to a simpler context of baseball.

The Pittsburgh Pirates suck, you know that, I know that (I live 300 feet from the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and just bought my Bucs-Red Sox tickets this morning).

Using your logic, no contending team would ever want to bring over one or two specific players from the Pirates for a play-off push to improve their offense or to provide better defense or whatever because the Pirates suck, therefore all of their players must also suck.

However, let's take Jason Bay. He does not suck. He is a top tier player that for a long while was on the Bucs. When he got traded to the Red Sox he did not magically go from barely being able to catch a ball to being a legit All-Star --- he maintained his previous level of performance but happened to be on a much better team which his performance made better (counterfactual that Manny would still continue to be Manny...)

Some players on the Pirates suck, some players on the Pirates are just below MLB competent, others are MLB competent, and a few are legitimately above competent MLB players. Almost every team will have at least one player in each of these categories. The problem with the Pirates is that the ratio of suck to almost competent to compent to legitimately good to superior talent is skewed massively to the left, while the Red Sox, Rays, Yanks etc. have a talent distribution curve skewed to the right. However there are a few players on the Bucs that could help a contender despite the fact the Pirates suck.

The same applies to pretty much every NFL team.

there was plenty of downside to both kindle and hughes before the draft. just as there was with gronkowski, but if it weren't for his injury, the pats would have never had a chance to get him. he would have been gone in the 1st half of the 1st round if he had played in 2009.

fact is, there was nobody in the 2010 draft that would have made much of a difference regarding a pass rush in the pats scheme.

I still like his mock a lot and Deaderick was a steal for us, That is a win-win in my book.

Seriously? Our draft was about 100x better than this mock. Hughes? Kindle??

The Patriots would have been markedly worse had they gone this mock's route.

In hindsight, obviously. BB nailed the draft last year. It's hard to imagine a group contributing more than McCourty, Gronkowski, Spikes, Cunningham, Deaderick, and Hernandez this year. It's probably closer to 1000x better than this one.

That being said, nobody knows what kind of player Kindle is going to be.
Pretty much everybody knew that Hughes chance of success was as a 3-4 OLB. Polian punted that pick.

I give the mocker credit for successfully getting 3 correct picks to the Pats.

I agree, he needs props for getting three players correct.

I wonder if this year he replaces the Kindle's and Hughes picks with yet another set of pass rushers.

Our lack of pass rushers and BB's relunctance to address this hole has almost become an annual running joke!

Don't forget Mesko.

I'd be surprised if Kindle amounts to anything at this point. Falling down the stairs followed by a DUI, in addition to his character issues from college. It could happen, but I doubt it.
