Inside the NFL: Are the Patriots invincible?

Some may laugh, but I honetly feel that there was an organized (conspiracy) effort in 2007 to do everything to distract the Patriots from winning another SB...and it worked.

"IF" the Patriots make to the SB this year it will be very, VERY interesting to watch to see if "something" comes out in another attempt to distract them from winning.

I'm dead serious too.

Sapp did make a good point about Flynn and the GB game....did I just type that??

I think Warren Sapp is the biggest bafoon I've ever watched on national television. It's amazing to me that they let him continue to keep his job.

I think if you watch the video and take the opinions as a whole that it's a pretty fair assessment; key points:

  • Defense is, for the most part not playoff tested (True). May or may not mean jack, but it's a fair statement.
  • You need a new/modified game plan against them every time because BB will change things up (True). Fate favors the prepared, even more so when BB is the opponent.
  • You need to be prepared to fight them for 60 minutes and most teams say that they are but don't back it up (True).

None of them said the Pats were invincible, but they all pointed out that it's not necessarily easy to beat them (except Collinsworth who simply pointed out a lack of experience on defense).

There's already been some "wonder if they're still cheating" articles floating around. More to come. There will be some attempt(s) for scandal....whether they ever gets any legs or not is another story.

Can you even understand what he's saying? Half the time, he mumbles something really fast and then laughs... it's pathetic. He also interrupts sometimes with a comment or two and most of the time, it's completely unintelligible and I have a hard time figuring out what he said, if anything.

If this 2010 team were at 100% strength Health wise they could be miles above the rest but they aren't and are just a shade better right now IMO

Huh, what injuries are you so concerned about? The Pats have gone 14-2 despite any injuries. They've made the adjustments all this year for injury. Come the divisional playoff round, they will have all the guys they need.

Just a 'shade' better than the rest? They demolished their opponents and averaged over 37 ppg in their last 8, not scoring less than 30 points even once in that stretch. This Patriots team is now reaching their peak performance come playoff time. And I haven't seen a team yet that can hang with them. Even that so called 'young defense' has given up less than 10 ppg over the last 5 games.

Obviously I don't like the 'invincible' label. No team is invincible. But this team is damn good and we shouldn't discredit them in our hurry to distance ourselves from the bad memories of 2007. This is a very different team from 07. Let's judge them on their own merits. When they play well in all three phases of the game they simply blow teams out of the water. When the 2010 Patriots play their A game, there isn't a team in this league that I see out there who could beat them.

The Pats' partial invincibility begins and ends with this:

While a team that wins on the lines of scrimmage usually wins the game, there are occasional exceptions. A Pats opponent isn't going to be one of those exceptions, not this postseason. Unless you (for example) dominate one line of scrimmage and hold your own on the other, you won't beat the Pats.

And even then you well may not.
