I keep hearing that if Rodgers were in the game they would have won. And that may have happened. But let's not go overboard. Flynn went deep what 4, 5 times and was picked off only to have it negated by a penalty? We took away the deep threat. Where we failed was with the short passing game, particularly out of the backfield.
I give credit to Flynn for being poise and patient enough to keep checking down and dumping it off, it kept the chains moving. Add in the running game for GB which had been non-existent prior to our game and you have the reason for why they kept the chains moving. If that was GB's gameplan, then kudos to Mcarthey for conjuring it up and to Flynn for being patience and sticking with it.
But lets not act like our secondary was torched by a young QB and therefore Rodgers would have done the same. Rodgers probably wouldn't have relied on the short game, could he have torched our secondary? Sure. But odds are he would have made some mistakes as well, he has thrown 10 picks.
The media and us fans are comparing apples to oranges. Rodgers game is vertical, Flynn went lateral. If Rodgers plays it is a completely different tempo and style of play from both sides.
Bottom line a desperate team came up with a game plan wrought with desperation and they implemented it with as much precision as possible and came up one play short.
Give credit to GB for the way they played and give credit to the Pats for adjusting on the fly and making one more play on a night when they clearly didn't bring their A game.
